What other media outlets can take away from Channel 4's whoring for CBS Scene

Did I write that? No, of course, I meant "What other media outlets can take away from the tough, refreshingly courageous way Channel 4 resisted corporate demands to whore for the new booze palace CBS co-owns down by Gillette Stadium." In any case, Ben Alper offers up some other possible media conglomerations:

Booters - The Boston Herald and Hooters join forces to create the perfect atmosphere for discussing government hacks, UFOs, while being served by gun-toting Sarah Palin look-alike waitresses. ...

Jessica Heslam has a few thoughts:

... This week's excessive, breathless coverage caps off tonight with a live half-hour show in Foxboro with main anchors Jack Williams and Hughes, and an army of WBZ sports and news people. ...

If every game is going to get us entreated to hearing about that stupid ass bar again and again, then I'm going to wear a CBS SUCKS t-shirt and stand in the back corner of the bar just in front of that one camera inside it and drink tap water the whole time.

I'm not even sure I know who that bar is supposed to be impressing. If you have tickets to one of the 8 games a year, you're going to probably want to be in your expensive seat watching the real game going on. If you don't have tickets, then you're probably going to want to watch the game from ANYWHERE but Foxboro during a game. The traffic situation there is redonkulous before and particularly after the game.

I ate at the CBS Scene before a Revolution game about a week ago. They've got a couple of nice outdoor decks that overlook the stadium.

Food was good but the service was extremely slow and they seemed really disorganized.

National Amusements (Showcase) just opened a multiplex cinema next to Gillette. Does this sound like a bad idea to anyone else? I would not want to go near it before, during, or after any Gillette event.

I'm sure that Robert Kraft, billionaire, has never considered that.

In his book, "Hidden Charges" by Ridley Pearson, he writes about the seizing of the Yankee Green Mall, which is the 2nd largest indoor shopping complex in the US, the 3rd largest indoor amusement park in the world ...

and at its north end - its football stadium is home to the "Boston Patriots", who relocated there from Foxboro in a deal by the Sullivan Bros.

The book was first published in 1993, as fiction. Given the nature of the book, let's hope it doesn't become non-fiction.

ooer, can't wait for the nightclub, featuring nightly appearances by reality starlettes and former local newscasters!

Making a post on the site today when Boston news is hot.
Taking a break to read the latest that adamg has got.

Wouldn't you like to have your say?

Sometimes you want to post..

Where everybody hides their name,
and they're always slinging blame.
You wanna gripe about the T,
The pink hats at the game,
You wanna whine: a biker was in...your lane.

You wanna post on U-Hub,
Opinions are never the same,
You wanna go where everybody hides
their name

Universal Hub was blogged in front of a live studio audience.

Aren't they all whores? The news isn't about real news it's about making money on ad revenue.

File this under "informed speculation," since I'm only hearing pieces of this third-hand, but ...

We know that Harvard wants to buy WBZ's current TV/radio building on Soldiers Field Road.

And we know that CBS Scene has "fully-operational, state-of-the-art broadcast facilities for CBS and its New England television and radio stations to telecast game coverage, pre-game reports, local newscasts and live programming."

Oh, yeah, and we know that WBZ thought the opening of a new restaurant was far more important than national political conventions.

So, put 2 and 2 together and you get WBZ Foxborough.

If true, it would be kind of pitiful that a Boston station would move out of Boston, would, in fact, be closer to Providence than Boston. On the other hand, it's not like Channel 5 isn't already in Needham (and Channel 25 in Dedham). What's another 25 miles down Rte. 1?

Sometimes I think it's a bit incestuous when the news carries stories about itself.

I was at the game yesterday, and heard at least two promos for the theater, reminding people that the films started right after the game. Seems like they want Pats fans to take in a flick after the final gun.

"Rather than petition the state to improve the traffic situation surrounding the stadium, we have decided to bring you a multitude of options* to enjoy while everyone else is stuck in the 2-3 hour traffic jam!"

You have to admit: that's a pretty Kraft-y solution to the after-game traffic jam problem.

* - Options may require additional costs.
