Tl;dr: Blame the dreaded wheel slip and compressor fault failure for a cascading series of delays on the Franklin Line yesterday morning.

It's hard to take any company seriously when using portrait aspect ratio.
Get it together guys!

Over $2 Billion and you can't have a real camera to shoot this?
I wish there was someone else who can present the video to without the unnecessary technical-babble that Im sure gets the average person lost.

There's nothing wrong with the camera they are using, a cell phone is fine for the job. Vertical video is a user error.

Credit Rich Murphy for going before the camera and offering a detailed explanation of what occurred. He is not a trained mouthpiece but is a respected Railroad Operations Manager. Bigger questions is; why are so many brand new MBTA locomotives still having catastrophic failures?

match the walls! Tie and everything!

Impressive 7 minute narrative! -no sarcasm intended. I feel bad for these guys who give it their best, only to be frustrated and blamed for breakdowns that are due to unreliable equipment, or circumstances they can't control.

I was scheduled to take the 7:07 am that day. My mobile ALERT said the train would be 10 to 15 minutes late. Of course, they didn't make that deadliine. The next alert was at 7:35 am saying, "experiencing difficulties, we are working on it, hope to clear up soon." With no definite time or solution presented, I bailed and went to another train station.

The default answer is to blame "Amtrak signal problems." Whole train system is a complete embarrassment to the Commonwealth and commerce. We overpay for little to no service, and, on top of that, poor communication. This video proves that they can't communicate effectively.

I take the Franklin line home (6:15pm out of South Station) every night and almost every night it is "delayed" either 5 - 20 minutes so far.

Slippery rail can be rectified and/or lessened as in this example from PA: http://www.septa.org/media/releases/2015/10-22.html?referrer=lansdaleflo...

Compressor problems. Engine problems. Electrical problems. Maintenance problems. Almost every other train car that I try to get on has a door that does not open and/or is stuck. Not enough tracks for the amount of train traffic delays switching of equipment and thus delays.

I get and understand the challenges facing the system and the lack of money, blah, blah, blah. However, I and others are paying well for a service that is sub-par (and it is not even really bad weather yet!). I am tried of excuses.

Last year, during the train system meltdown, Keolis was saying how they were creating this "master plan" which I have never seen publicized. I am happy to read of the 80 million dollar plus invest in the T (new third rails, heaters and the like) but almost every night I receive a text that the Red Line is delayed. I want to believe that all will be well but I am skeptical.
