The Parkway Transcript reports on three cases: Around 8 a.m. on Sept. 18, a teen walking to school on Spring Street was attacked by five guys in ski masks who threw her to the ground, kicked her and took $7 out of her backpack (the report doesn't say where on Spring Street).
The next night, a party on Glenellen Street got out of hand when a couple of girls called up some friends spoiling for a fight; they arrived and promptly beat somebody up with skateboard wheels.
A man whose June Street dining room faces the Washington-Beech project on Washington Street had bullets shot into his house; he said he considers himself lucky he had just taken his kids outside to play.

Hard to believe five guys dare to attack a young girl just to get few dollars...I always worry when my daughter go out alone.

There's more to the story. Maybe I'm naive, but I'm finding the idea of five guys in ski masks just driving around West Roxbury looking for somebody to mug a bit hard to imagine.
Ski Masks?

That's, like, soooo retro!
Seriously, do they make them any more? Sure, there's neoprene for winter sport comfort, balaclavas and turtle fur ... but ski masks? Were they listening to Bee Gees too?
Isn't a balaclava and a ski

Isn't a balaclava and a ski mask essentially the same thing?
Balaclava and Ski Mask

They are not the same thing.
Ski masks have eye and mouth holes. The only ones that I have seen recently were neoprene, and those wouldn't be wearable in temperate weather (too hot).

A balaclava has an oval opening which can hold the whole face or be pulled over mouth and nose, or just mouth, etc.

Anybody who wears that first thing should be laughed out of the human race immediately. Good to know that stealth Ninjas wear balaclavas.

You know darn well how tacky and sometimes silly those ski masks used to be!

Did a double take there. Was in Eastern Europe recently, and all the veiled muslim women there, referred to as "Ninjas" even locally, look just like the hip dewd in the black skimask. Maybe these women were actually guys?

I really hate the new generation from west roxbury (i am one of them.)
They fail to realize that they live in an upper middle class semi-suburb of boston, and love to pretend they grow up in the world of hard knocks. In reality, they are just a bunch of underachieving fools who look downright funny with their pasty white skin and clothes that are 4 sizes to big.

Didn't they all graduate Catholic Memorial and Boston Latin and go to Providence College like years ago?
