First of all, the whole thing went down in Braintree and second of all, the Randolph guy was the victim. For all we know, he could have been completely innocent... or rich, or middle class, or fat, or skinny, or asian, or white, or black (you get my point). I live a town over from Randolph and it's not really as terrible as you seem to think it has become. But yeah, why couldn't they have just kept all those damn poor people in the city instead of opening up affordable housing opportunities for them outside of the slums of Dorchester / Mattapan / Roxbury? Randolph used to be such an amazing place until they ruined it!!
Randolph is not nearly as dangerous/downtrodden as it's made out to be. There are some crappy housing developments occupied by people who don't work and get arrested for drugs and such, but there are also a lot of good hard working, tax paying individuals in the Dolph. Kinda like everywhere else in America...

I'm sure there are plenty of communities in Massachusetts you only hear about when bad things happen, not because there is a lot of bad things happening, but that there aren't a lot of news stories whatsoever coming out of there, so the bad ones stand out to you. I'm sure you'd have a different opinion if you read the local newspaper, where more good is reported than bad.
Brianjdamico has it right. My point was that the only time I hear anything about Randolph in the news, its due to a nightclub fight, an arrest of a Randolph resident for setting in Boston, or in this case, a victim of something that happened in a nearby town.
Other than the prior comments here, I don't know anything else about the town. It's demographics, history, or what might make it great (other than convenient location). I do know a bit about Needham, Bedford, Braintree, and other towns along I95.
Maybe they need to hire a PR rep, or start hosting some type of unique festival.
Hope the road rage victim recovers and the bad guy is convicted.
