Boylston Place club loses right to bottle service after server is beaten
The Boston Licensing Board yesterday suspended the Stage's right to offer bottle service indefinitely because of a November incident in which a server had a champagne bottle thrown at her and wound up getting pounded into the floor by several angry patrons.
The ruling means the Stage can no longer let patrons reserve one or more bottles of liquor for immediate service at their tables.
At a hearing Tuesday, the server said the patrons might have been set off by what they felt was slow delivery of several bottles of champagne and a bottle of rum to their table after the club had been emptied by a fire alarm. An attorney for the club, however, suggested they were set off by racial epithets hurled their way.

Is that even a punishment?
They can't bring a whole bottle to your table, but they can still bring shots (of booze) to everyone at the table. Is the idea to get "the kind of people" who want bottle service to stop going to this club?
Oe Bottle one trip
$500-$1,500
ask the governor of maine
who he thinks the primary demographic of bottle service is
Pregnant white women?
Pregnant white women?
Sadly LaPage's mother
was a pregnant white woman..
The official response was,

That was a phenomenal press
That was a phenomenal press conference. Great PR guy!
The "idea"
The idea is that full bottles make nasty weapons, and the club didn't prevent that.
Shot glasses hurt, but aren't generally used to beat people.
I wonder if they serve beer
I wonder if they serve beer in bottles? Not as large as a champagne bottle, but can still be very dangerous.
They serve beer
They do pour it out into a plastic "glass", though. At least for private parties.
Smart move. This is why we
Smart move. This is why we can't have nice things!
How about
Stop taking cash and make it plastic only? That will keep out the drug money demographic responsible for 99% of all violence.
So
What stops the dealers from getting pre paid cards which they buy with cash?
lol
love this comment
because its true
Makin it rain
Can't do it with a prepaid card. As far as prepaid cards go, thise shouldn't even exist - just traceable debit or credit cards. As for all the privacy bullshit, all your berniewanker assclowns want the rich to stop hiding their money and pay their fair share of taxes. Well guess what, same applies to you - show where your money came from.
umwut

A lot of prepaid cards also exist because people get paid with them. Others exist because people cash their paychecks but don't want to carry bags of cash around, yet can't afford a checking account anymore.
Ditto for college students who don't qualify for credit cards.
That privileged world you live in must be nice.
What stone age world
Do you live in? Direct deposit has been around since the days when dinosaurs still roamed the earth, and all bank accounts come with a debit card nowadays. Also, no one needs to carry cash, even hipsters selling organic cruelty-free dental floss from the back of their their tie-dyed microbus at SoWa take cards.
Prepaid cards
also exist because they are used as gift cards. (I've had a couple.)
good god
what a dumb comment
Already can't take plastic EBT cards
for liquor that drug dealers take as payment from some customers.
Statistics please
Or, at least, a citation would help.
Meanwhile, google "welfare drug testing programs" - every state that drug tests has found a whopping two or three people using drugs!
In other words, I'm calling bullshit on your "truthy just so story" here.
Those are 4 EBT cards taken off a crack dealer a week ago

That's one picture
These may have been stolen from their rightful users. Unless you are now going to claim that junkies never steal credit cards or mail, or break into houses.
Statistics please.
Just google EBT fraud
or "EBT use for drugs" and get lots and lots of hits. No good stats because welfare proponents don't know the extent and don't want it known either. The claim is just $3,000,000,000 a year by welfare proponents.
Welfare recipients report the EBT cards as lost or stolen rather than admit they traded for drugs or cash.

Comforting to know that most of the EBT fraud isn't to buy drugs, just other uses. Thanks.
Enough, thanks
This is a discussion about an assault at a club. There are other places you can discuss EBT use in New Orleans.
You can't be that naive.
You can't be that naive.
I don't see a drug dealer accepting "cards junkies stole from their rightful owners" without knowing the value of the cards.

You need to look at the last receipt for the balance or call an 800 number and know the secret pin to obtain the card balance or withdraw funds. How do you suppose the "thrives" obtain PIN numbers?
Adam, do you know if the
Adam, do you know if the people involved in the incident were charged with anything? Has this all come down on the club or is everyone getting punished?
Police didn't mention anything about people charged
At the hearing on Tuesday, and they usually do mention such things.
Don't forget that among the allegations: The club managers basically put the server in a hallway for 25 or 30 minutes and didn't call police until about an hour after the incident. Also, the two promoters who'd rented the place out wouldn't tell police the name of the "sub promoter" they allegedly in turn hired to actually fill the space.
Also worth noting: BPD doesn't cite a bar or club instead of charging individuals for crimes. They do both. Citations are issued by the licensing detectives (sometimes by a district patrol supervisor); criminal charges are handled by the criminal detectives.
This is because there are really two issues: Public safety and health and criminal activities.
Club/bar/restaurant citations are really more civil infractions than criminal charges and are intended to protect public safety. A place that gets a citation has to answer to the licensing board, not a jury. I've never seen a case where the police did not also bring criminal charges, which go to court and carry potential jail/prison penalties, if warranted (perhaps the most extreme example was that of the owner of Roggie's, who both had to appear before the licensing board and was charged criminally for the incident involving an unconscious patron dumped outside).
Long gone
The champagne flingers were long gone by the time the police arrived, so no one to arrest. There is more to the story, as the attorney for Stage stated, but her clients aren't telling it.
Hey Licensing Board
bozosbureaucrats and BPD. How about charging the person who actually THREW the bottle instead.Little wonder that bar owners don't want to call the police when things like this break out.
Club owners are covering
From what the previous post said, the club owners are covering for the criminals who beat up this girl.
The criminals were personally known to the owners but now they don't have any idea who it was. Then they send their shyster to defame the victim.
Forget bottle service, these dirt bags should be charged under RICO. I wonder how many greasy Benjamins they got to keep their mouths shut.
I personally don't like VIP
I personally don't like VIP or bottle service especially in Boston!!! Charging $500 for a $20 bottle, juice and water and a limit of 6 or 8 people per table, sucks!!! Clubs close at 1am/2am here sucks!!! This is not NY where you get to party until 4am or even 5am, but even then I still cant see myself spending them dollars. Maybe its just me!!! Besides all that, if her story is true, then its very sad that her doing her job caused her to be beat. Give me back the times of when it was The Liquor Store Boston, that bull was awesome, the pole was super awesome the VIP style section in the back was super awesome, the crowd was diverse, the music was cool and I love it then!!!!
Waitress may have a complaint of racially-motivated attack
And waitress has more of a right to not be beaten down and possibly given permanent brain damage, than her attackers have to, uh, be served as quickly as they think they should be in a club.
Honey, get a good lawyer. Maybe you'll be a better owner of that nightclub.
Only used AGAINST white people
Since when are "hate" or "racially motivated" crimes ever leveled on anyone attacking white heterosexuals? If anything, they will be used against the waitress suffering the beating and concussion, claiming she made racist comments to provoke her beating.
I'm sure hate crime charges
I'm sure hate crime charges will be brought as soon as a group of non-white homosexuals attack a heterosexual white man while calling him derogatory terms for heterosexual Caucasians.
straight cracker
it sounds like something i'd like to have with cheese & wine
