We were at Fenway watching from the third base grandstands with jaw-dropping fascination as the immortal Reggie Willits ran half-way down the line, stopped, and Erick Aybar missed the bunt. We watched Jason Varitek clunk and clang his way up the baseline, chasing the speedy Willits back to the base (Throw the damn ball, Tek, throw it!) only to finally tag him, something the Angels protested rather vehemently, as the ball trickled out of 'Tek's mitt after the tag. Did he hold it long enough? Well, it's all over now, baby blue. And, Red Sox Nation has three full days of not worrying about a thing.
Who would have thought that the Sox could dominate the Angels with Lester as the stud, backed by a cast of rookies and newbies? Amazing. I love these guys!
Tonight may have been the best game I've ever seen. The highs, the lows, the great plays, the great pitching, the clutch hitting - just great. I'll be able to ignore Francona's blunders and bask in the glow.
Rob recounts an encounter with some bitter, bitter men:
"Who was the last Red Sox manager to win two World Series?" I asked a foursome of middle-aged miserable dung beetles of men, right after they criticized and ripped apart Terry Francona for leaving Masterson in the game. Two of these scared shitless negative nancies actually wanted to fight me because I defended Tito as a manager, even though I disagreed with the decision to keep Masterson in.
Kristen braces for some serious trash talk from her Rays-loving granny, adds:
... Not gonna lie. Did not expect this. But I will take it. Turns out wins with house money are just as sweet. ...
Meredith O'Brien is looking forward to games that start at decent hours, adds:
... Bring on the Rays. I wish we could also bring on Rem-Dog and Orsillo from NESN. Those TBS guys are just terrible and that guy with the hideous, retina-destroying jackets makes me crazy.
... Just a great night all around. An exciting series. And a whole new batch of heroes every time. The ALCS starts Friday night. Hold onto your nuts, Carl Crawford. And Joe Maddon, better put an extra chain on those stylish hipster glasses. We're coming for you.

If I'm not mistaken, TBS had Orsillo working the White Sox - Rays series. Might they use him for Red Sox - Rays? Doubtful, but we can hope.

Fox takes over now, which means we almost certainly get Joe Buck and Tim McCarver, with their special blend of sucking all the joy out of the game.

The ALCS is still on TBS. We don't have to endure FOX sucking the life out of us until the WS.
