When WTKK trash talk becomes mob-incitement

"My job, with your help, is to start today, or recommit today, with 29 days left in this campaign, to politically destroy Barack Obama. Our job is to undermine him in every possible legal way, to undermine his upcoming administration in advance, to destroy his ability to reach any governing majority, undermine and destroy his political ability to govern or to have any hope of a successful administration.

We must do this because a Successful Barack Obama administration equals socialism, our government being soft on terrorism, the UN running the defense of our country, our doom as a nation."

Radar reports that the Secret Service is investigating the potential threat against Barack Obama at a Sarah Palin rally:

The Secret Service is following up on media reports today that someone in the crowd at a McCain/Palin event suggested killing Barack Obama, according to Secret Service spokesman Malcolm Wiley. The shout of "kill him" followed a Sarah Palin rant on Obama's relationship with radical Chicagoan Bill Ayers.

Wiley says the Secret Service did not begin looking into the matter until press reports, namely Dana Milbank's article in the Washington Post, surfaced today, because no agents at the event heard anything. "The Secret Service did not hear any threatening statements directed at targets under its protection and no threatening statements were reported to us by law enforcement or citizens at the event," Wiley told Radar. Also unclear: whether the remark was directed at Obama or Ayers if the words were actually "kill" and "him."

Uh oh, they're going to take away the Pulitzer that Severin won for Blogging! Or was that a Nobel?

This is NOT an all-out defense of Jay Severin. However, what qualifies this as racist?

I can't speak for Timmy Mac. I think the McCain campaign is stoking the fires of fear and loathing.

It's long been said that Obama is a Muslim which is not true. See Andrew Martin in wiki.

According to the June 28, 2008 edition of The Washington Post, political theorist Danielle Allen traced the origin of the rumors about Obama's background back to Martin's 2004 press release.

Now, Sarah Palin is getting on stage and claiming Barack Obama is palling around with terrorists. While McCain won't say it to Obama's face he has some pretty disgusting attacks, too. McCain referred to Barack Obama on Tuesday in the debate as "that one." That was just plain hostile.

It's not such so much racism as it is ethnicism, religious prejudice, challenging Obama's loyalty and motivations, and dehumanizing Barack Obama. The fallout is people yelling "Kill him!" at McCain/Palin rallies. Palin and McCain have heard it and not condemned it. That is why I say "Make Them own any post-election violence."

McCain's attacks fuel dangerous hatred
By Frank Schaeffer
October 10, 2008

John McCain: If your campaign does not stop equating Sen. Barack Obama with terrorism, questioning his patriotism and portraying Mr. Obama as "not one of us," I accuse you of deliberately feeding the most unhinged elements of our society the red meat of hate, and therefore of potentially instigating violence.

Recently, when I read or see stuff like this I often wonder
what the best way to respond is, if any. I'm pretty sure
J. Sev. is not going to change his tune through anything
I write on his blog commentary. In his posting, if you
substituted any politian's name or someone J. does not
"care for", the article would still read the same way.
Sometimes I think of a line from the Alfred Hitchcock
movie "Lifeboat": "What are you going to do with people like
that?"

PS J. could also use a usage editor as well as someone to
correct his run-on sentences. Makes me think of a certain
woman who comes from the Great North and also communicates
this way.

"...undermine and destroy his political ability to govern or to have any hope of a successful administration."

This is not what we need right now.

We need hope.

With the financial markets in turmoil, we need to rally around Barack Obama, and say no to this type of negative talk.

It makes me sick.

Join me starting Monday, October 13th at 3:00 PM EST in a REVOLUTION against negative talk.

we need to rally around Barack Obama, and say no to this type of negative talk.

Why should "we" do any such thing? Because there is financial turmoil "we" are supposed to look the other way and ignore his inexperience, his hideous judgement on who he hangs around with (Wright, Rezko, Ayers, etc), his hard-left voting record, his recently-discovered (i.e. in this campaign) love affair with protectionism, the left-wing judges and justices he'll appoint, his obscene plan for federally-enforced (via threats to withhold federal funding) mandatory "volunteering" of high school and college students, etc.?

I think not. All that stuff should damn well be opposed and not let to slide by so that people can feel good about BHO.

Are you going to actually contribute something, or are you going to just parrot the same rhetoric and talking points that the right-wing pundits and radio show hosts spout off?

I listen to FoxNews to learn what the right wing is telling my neighbors.

It's informative, not because its the truth but because it give me a chance to analyze the rhetoric.

We all know what George Bush has done to our country. He lied a lot and made a lot of really bad decisions. In his own words, he had two accountability moments, the election in 2000 and the election in 2004. Otherwise, he governed as if he had two constituencies, rich friends and himself. You can see the results his governing wrought. It matters who we have as a president.

I remember what the Republicans did to Kerry. They savagely defined him in the worst possible terms, discrediting his military service. You can see them trying to do the same to Barack Obama. Here is what they're trying to call him; terrorist sympathizer, trained radical, muslim, socialist. I tend to think the American People are smarter than to fall for that again.

John Weaver, McCain’s former top strategist, said top Republicans have a responsibility to temper this behavior.

“People need to understand, for moral reasons and the protection of our civil society, the differences with Sen. Obama are ideological, based on clear differences on policy and a lack of experience compared to Sen. McCain,” Weaver said. “And from a purely practical political vantage point, please find me a swing voter, an undecided independent, or a torn female voter that finds an angry mob mentality attractive.”

“Sen. Obama is a classic liberal with an outdated economic agenda. We should take that agenda on in a robust manner. As a party we should not and must not stand by as the small amount of haters in our society question whether he is as American as the rest of us. Shame on them and shame on us if we allow this to take hold.”

Or do you find that right wing cabal "CNN" of dubious credibility?

Florid and over-dramatic, no doubt, but why is something this explosive not being vetted by the MSM?

I'd like some of this "hope". Where do I buy it? Can I change it for some other "hope" in case this particular "hope" turns out to be like everything else that is sold today?

Finding Number One
For the reasons explained in section IV of this report, I find that Governor Sarah Palin abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act. Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) provides

The legislature reaffirms that each public officer holds office as a public trust, and any effort to benefit a personal or financial interest through official action is a violation of that trust.

Finding Number Two
I find that, although Walt Monegan's refusal to fire Trooper Michael Wooten was not the sole reason he was fired by Governor Sarah Palin, it was likely a contributing factor to his termination as Commissioner of Public Safety. In spite of that, Governor Palin's firing of Commissioner Monegan was a proper and lawful exercise of her constitutional and statutory authority to hire and fire executive branch department heads.

Finding Number Three
Harbor Adjustment Service of Anchorage, and its owner Ms. Murleen Wilkes, handled Trooper Michael Wooten's workers' compensation claim property and in the normal course of business like any other claim processed by Harbor Adjustment Service and Ms. Wilkes. Further, Trooper Wooten received all the workers' compensation benefits to which he was entitled.

Finding Number Four
The Attorney General's office has failed to substantially comply with my August 6, 2008 written request to Governor Sarah Palin for infomration about the case in the form of emails.

I will do everything I can to derail this man's campaign too. He is bad for our country because his politics don't work. He brings "hope" and "change". Neither are going to fix our problems.

I'm no fan of Jay Severin, or the McCain/Palin ticket. In fact, I think that Sara Palin is totally crazy. However, in watching the debate earlier this week on foreign policy, I turned it off when both McCain and Obama began talking about "going in and kicking some butt". That's when I realized even more fully the kind of stuff both candidates are made of. Not POTUS material, either one of them, imho.

McCain tried to calm the crowd town at his rally, telling them not to spew out any more hate, but, unfortunately , since the genie's out of the bottle, there's no putting it back in.
If McCain had any common decency, he'd ask Palin to step down.
