Variety reports CBS wants to get rid of its radio stations, which in Boston include WBZ 1030, WBZ-FM, a.k.a. the Sports Hub, WBMX, i.e., Mix 104.1, and WZLX.

He was one of those quintessential Boston personalities that made the culture of the city what it was. He treated everyone respectfully, listened to both sides of issues. There was a void in local radio when he died.

Isn't there a fair amount of synergy between these two stations? Hard to imagine them being separated after all these decades.

I really like Mix 104.1. Sad. I hope whoever buys it doesn't change the format. They've been doing a great job getting some of the newer adult contemporary stuff that's been charting in Europe, yet doesn't hit the AT40/BH100 in the US.

The sale of the stations doesn't mean new formats are coming up. It might increase the chances, but most owners are going to want to keep successful formats and Mix, Sports Hub, WBZ, ZLX are all doing well. The whole radio division is likely to be sold off together and there will be no need for changesm
