Another Virgin Mary statue beheaded
By adamg on Wed, 03/30/2016 - 6:33pm
Billerica Police are looking for whoever cut the head and hands off a Virgin Mary statue at St. Mary's Church on Boston Road overnight.
The vandalism comes a couple days after a similar beheading at a church in Burlington.
Detectives are looking at whether the incidents are connected.

A request
If you've already expressed your feelings about the Catholic Church in the discussion on the other incident, please don't repeat them here. We know how you feel already.
Oops
sorry, didn't see your request before I posted. A delete comment feature would be nice.

Thanks Adam
And 'quisador, that was a good line.
Pretty funny
for a scumsukingbore
It is funny
How you allow criticism of one religion, and only one on this site.
Here's what's funny
Your comment makes no sense.
All the guy who keeps this website going is asking is that after we all aired our feelings on Catholicism over on another story on this very website that mirrors this incident, we take it easy this time.
Maybe you should become a news aggregator, and on your website you can allow all sorts of criticism of all sorts of religions. Go for it.
creepy
Three times in a row, it is starting to become creepy.
hmm
if things were still connected, there wouldnt be an incident at all now would there
my money's on
Pazuzu
At this point, can we call these hate crimes?
They seem to be targeting one particular religion.
Let's catch the person first
Before we ascribe motives to the actions.
A few years back there was press about a rash of fires targeting churches in some city I cannot remember and don't feel like tracking down. The theory was that the arsonist was going after African American churches until a few fires struck some white congregations. Then, it emerged that some of the fires were in fact not suspicious. As I recall with my vague memory, they did track someone down with mental health issues in the end.
Agreed
Unless the perpetrator(s) leaves some kind of message explaining their motive, it's not really possible to say whether it's based in hatred of Catholicism. Could be someone who's discovered that it's fun to get drunk and decapitate statues. Most other religion don't erect statues (OK, Buddhism, but your Burlington-based drunken vandal isn't going to bother driving to Chelmsford when there are closer victims available.)
Out of curiosity, how does the RCC get around that biblical proscription of graven images, anyway?
citation please?
for the RCC "biblical proscription of graven images".
Not "RCC biblical proscription"
Exodus 20:4
Norwood too
The Mary statue at St. Catherine's in Norwood was vandalized with black spray paint on Good Friday.
