By adamg on Sun, 05/01/2016 - 8:16am
An hour after a fire on Dacia Street, the rear porches at 8 Montello St. caught on fire, the Boston Fire Department reports.
The department says one firefighter suffered a back injury while battling the fire - in which the porches were fully engulfed when trucks pulled up around 8 p.m. No residents were injured.
The department estimates damage at $500,000.

Increased The Exposure A Bit
Yes!
These photos can so easily be made better. Thank you. :)
I saw a lot of grilling yesterday
Right now, I'm looking at a neighbor's grill on their wood balcony of a 4-decker.
Call the police or fire
Call the police or fire department. You could save a life by doing so.
Do report it
The FD will take care of it right away. Also, I'm told the process is quite entertaining to watch, and it looks like you've got an excellent view.
Removal
Will the FD remove a grill that is just "sitting" there, or do they have to see it in operation for it to be a fire hazzard?
Good question
Good question, I don't know the answer. I am guessing that at a minimum, there would be a notice to the tenant/building owner. I don't know if it's legal to store a grill on a porch and use it elsewhere, but a coworker told me of seeing a truck roll up and douse a grill that was operating next to a building.
