Guy arrested for tagging up historic trolleys at Boylston spraying his name all over once more, police say
After he was charged with spray painting his tag on the old trolleys at Boylston station, police say, Marc Meadowcroft of Revere promised to never do it again. In exchange, authorities agreed to a plea deal that kept him out of jail.
He lied, police say. And now they're looking to arrest him again, for spray painting "CIGA" at Green Street on the Orange Line in January of this year. Police add Meadowcroft has several other graffiti-related warrants out as well.
If you know the whereabouts of MEADOWCROFT and/or have information on his whereabouts we would like to hear from you. You can contact the TPD and remain 100% anonymous via our Text a Tip Line 873873, our SeeSay App or by calling 617-222-1170.

Tag, you're it
Since he likes to tag things so publically, maybe they should tag his face with he moniker.
What?!?
Why the hell would they let the kid out of jail? He almost destroyed several historic trains which are a pleasure to view for thousands of people. If the kid spray painted the DA's house would he be so kind?
THIS is the sort of idiot you make an example out of and press for the longest, harshest sentence possible. Destroy the kid's future just as he tried to destroy Boston's past.
oh he's doing a fine job with that
He's doing a fine job with that. 2nd offense they will be harsher.
They should make him clean it up with a toothbrush. It's clear a threat of jailtime isn't enough.. how about some hard work to show him how much damage he has done. A few 8 hour days cleaning off spray paint with a toothbrush, might make him change his mind.
But consider he's stupid enough to do it again.. I doubt that.
Well
Given the previous "punishment" he must have assumed that looking at floor while muttering "sorry" is all it takes to get out of jail if caught again.
After the first offense they should have made him pick up doggy poop in public parks at $7/hr until he paid off the thousands it must have cost to clean the trolleys the first time around.
Threats
He didn't take the threat seriously--he knew he could get out of it. I bet once he's done some time he'll take the threat more seriously next time.
Easy Now
Vandalism is exactly the sort of crime they let you out of jail for. It is literally the opposite of what you "press for the longest, harshest sentence possible" on.
Not simple vandalism
This kid didn't tag a mailbox, he nearly ruined two historic trolleys in one of the most used stations in the T. The public outrage was huge as was the cost of cleanup. Why exactly let him off easy?
Plenty of people are in jail for minor offenses and that's questionable policy. But this isn't minor vandalism -- this is the reason why jails exist.
Take a hard look at those
Take a hard look at those trolleys before you get to melodramatic. They're already in piss poor shape. They haven't exactly been keeping them museum quality. That being said, the little clown ought to be publicly caned like they do in Singapore.
Welcome to America!
We do things differently here. We do not arrest and prosecute people for chewing gum, or for bringing their favorite fruit into the subway. We also do not sentence convicted criminals to beatings or whippings, since our Supreme Court has found those kinds of punishments unconstitutional.
I hope you don't have too much trouble adjusting to life here. It might be helpful to remember that we value the rights of the individual, even when that diminishes absolute civil order.
Correct!
Here in the good ol' USA we simply advocate locking people in prison at the mere cost of $55,000 per year for serious crimes like graffiti
Well, some of us
Some of us advocate that. I don't think it's fair to say that we do that. In some places, we do still lock people up for smoking reefer, which is also excessive.
Hate to dissapoint you
But those Singapore canings aren't done in public. They're done in the prison.
Obviously this kid is an
Obviously this kid is an idiot and deserves to be punished, but don't you think "destroy the kid's future" is a tad bit harsh? You realize this is vandalism and not rape or murder, right?
lol, Facebook search
Could come back to haunt him.

Not how FB works
He didn't make that statement - his friend did, and tagged him.
Not the same thing.

yeah but he liked the statement
Do you read stories then do a FB search?
Boy that's creepy. Time for a new hobby.
The graffiti was painted in
The graffiti was painted in January. If it's May and they're still looking for him, they might want to think about increasing the $10 reward.
Put him on a chain-gang
Put him on a chain-gang building the green line extension. He gets released when the project is finished.
Hire Him
If memory serves me correct the last so called artist who shut down the city with the lite bright Aqua Teen Hunger fiasco or the Mooninite Panic of 2007 was hired for First Night as a resident artist.
That was different
because a) the lite brites did not damage any property since they were magnetic and b) several other major US cities [New York, Seattle, LA, Philadelphia, and Atlanta] "survived" the "invasion" of the Mooninites without foolishly overreacting and shutting the city down.
This nitwit damaged property with something as dumb as his last name. Selfish, not artist.
The Mooninite panic was not
The Mooninite panic was not caused by artists. It was caused by public safety agencies with no incentive to follow common sense, fueled by the potential for unlimited overtime to escalate the situation as high and and as long as possible.
If all the cops and firefighters that day were not eligible for OT, the fiasco would have ended before it even got started.
Omg, let it go! Yes, the
Omg, let it go! Yes, the Mooninite fiasco was the highlight of your adult life. We get it.
do you really think
a life sentence is appropriate for graffiti?
Mom has that Obey print in the den
Then she turns around and grounds me for this. Hypocrite much? Live is unfair.
This A-hole tagged my building.
Yes, a damn building. As in a building where people live.
Hey A-hole, go tag your mom's building.
How to decide art/not art
Are you making it on a medium (canvas, t-shirt, wall, rock, tree, traffic sign, someone's skin) that does not belong to you and that you have not been given permission to use for this purpose? No? Then it's not art and you're not an artist.
the real problems on the T
this is smoke and mirrors for the real problems the T is facing. You really thing kids spray painting stuff that takes a couple hours to clean is why the T is in debt? Try looking at the overpaid, incompetent, rude and unsupervised workers.
Taken directly from the MBTA's document explaining its massive debts:
Managing personnel costs is onerous for the MBTA largely because of the role of binding
arbitration in labor negotiations. The T’s arbitration process is a system without any checks, the
final decision lying solely in the hands of a single arbitrator.
The growth in wages during the past 13 years was driven largely by two binding arbitration
awards to the Carmen’s Union covering wage contracts for FY 2006 through FY 2013. The
combination of binding arbitration awards and additional staffing make it impossible for the
MBTA to constrain wage growth to anywhere near the rate of revenue growth. More
importantly, if the T has to accommodate future arbitration awards as generous as the past two
and headcount continues to climb due to expansions, wage costs will escalate far higher than
current projections.
Way to blame the victim
Sure, if the T can get it's fiscal house in order, they can budget for graffiti removal so we won't have to call out these "artists" who are only looking to express themselves.
Of course, in the real world, what this punk did was illegal and since he is habitual about it, he should be punished. Partly because he scoffed at his plead deal, and partly because people actually like the old trolleys that he defaced.
I REMEMBER JERK
I remember this jerk's case last year and if I'm not mistaken there were some questionable controversy regarding the release.
Everyone should post and repost this Nichole face. Tagging if is not felony, should become one. Let the MBTA , Courts and every other law enforcement learn a lesson from negotiating with taggers.
I'm pissed the F--K off over this case.
