Quincy Police photographed what happens when you forget: This car picked up enough steam rolling down a driveway to hop the seawall and end up in the water this morning. WBZ reports it happened on Shelton Road.

If one is parked facing downhill, the front wheels of the car's two front wheels should be turned facing outwards.
If one is parked facing uphill, on the other hand, the car's two front wheels should be facing inwards.

DOWNHILL: Park with wheels turned to the right
UPHILL (with curb): Park with wheels turned to the left
UPHILL (no curb): Park with wheels turned to the right

I've always learned similar, but instead of right vs left it was either towards curb or away from curb so one does not have to remember r vs l.

I had not heard curb or no curb for uphill ... is that because if no curb the vehicle would roll back into the street and possibly have the steering 'correct' itself so it goes downhill anyway?

There was clearly a space saver there, so the resident who owned the spot was within their rights to push the car into the street.

The buoy in the background had me confused for a little while: I looks like it could have been a pop up flag. As if the when the car hit the water and the hatch opened, the "HELP!" signal went up. Kind of a short string for the help signal, tho.
