Exodus Bagels finds promised land in Roslindale
By adamg on Wed, 06/29/2016 - 8:28pm
Exodus Bagels, which has been selling its wares at finer farmer's markets and pop-ups everywhere (or at least in JP and Roslindale) announced today it's found a permanent home in Roslindale - in space formerly occupied by the Tables of Contents catering service next to the Bellevue commuter-rail stop off Belgrade Avenue.

It only took 40 years...
It only took 40 years...
Is this just retail or also for making the bagels?
If just retail, then Tony's old space? If also baking then no idea as I think that's more complicated in terms of venting, etc...
Maybe further down Belgrade
Speculation on the Keep Roslindale Quirky Facebook group focuses on the defunct Tables of Contents catering space near the Bellevue commuter-rail stop.
Some clues
You can see the Tables of Content sign in the right side of their photo, which is plenty of proof on its own. But if you want even more confirmation, the location listed on their tweet is "MBTA Bellevue Commuter Rail".
You and your "clues."

Just call me Capt. Oblivious
It's not like that photo wasn't right in front of my face, oy. Thanks, have updated the original post.
Getting developed?
I thought that whole Newport Cleaners block was on the market with an eye to getting developed like the lot next door with Starr Yoga, etc... I guess this is a different building behind all that, but seems like it would be impacted heavily if/when the main block on Belgrade gets the hammer.
OMG YES that's like a block
OMG YES that's like a block from my house
Good lord this is going to be bad for my wallet
I was rooting for them
I was rooting for them getting the original Bob's Pita space since it has a production kitchen and a retail space in the square. I hope they're not planning on doing retail out of the Belgrade spot only, there isn't enough foot traffic to sustain a business long term. I'm also predicting the demise of Green T Coffee in a year or so for similar reasons - cause I'm a curmudgeon.
I was really doubtful about
I was really doubtful about Green T but every time I go past it there's people in there.
The Bob's space is a derelict nightmare inside and the landlord is waiting on somebody who's going to pay for all the work to be done instead of fixing it himself. Shameful.
Not just shameful, its stupid
I have also heard that the owner of the former Bob's Pita (who inherited it from a deceased parent) is waiting for a tenant who will pay for all of the necessary renovations. This is not just un-neighborly, its stupid. The amount of renovation needed on that property is enormous and only a very large company would even consider forking over that kind of money to open a location. However, no such company is ever going to move into that space because it could likely find another space in need of much less renovation in Roslindale and, moreover, we have seen the kind of reaction that large chains get from local residents when they try to move in (although some have been quite successful). The owner of this property would be better off selling it to a professional commercial developer sophisticated, and well capitalized, enough to renovate and profitably lease than to continue to hold onto the pipe dream that someone is going to pay for the reno, and then pay them rent too.
Green T is packed every time
Green T is packed every time I go in there or by there. It's in a perfect space. So many ppl can walk to it so I think it will do really well. Actually I'm quite jealous as I wish Green T was in place of Stash's whose food is pure shite.
I'm super happy they are going on McGraw. We need businesses like this to start opening on Belgrade. The commuter rail is there as well as 3 bus lines on both sides of Belgrade.
From what I have "heard" around the way that building was sold and they are looking to put apartments there. Hopefully they will add some other small interesting businesses. Plenty of ppl in the neighborhood looking for a good coffee place, bakery, pub, etc.
The Belgrade location is for
The Belgrade location is for full-scale production as well. They've made that clear. Green T is killing it. They won't go anywhere. Get off my lawn though.
Look buddy
I reject your western Capitalist concept of ownership of property. That lawn belongs to all of us and also you need to reseed those bare patches.
Always line out the door
Every time I'm there it's always packed. I was there a recent Tuesday mid morning and they were busy - seems to be a big hit for stay-at-home parents.. I wish they were open on Sundays because that's the day I like to head to a coffee shop to get a little work done. Right now I have to head up to JP.
I don't know how long PS gourmet will stay open. They're never busy and it's not nice place to hang out. Their regular coffee isn't that good.
