May his memory be a blessing
In addition to all his writing and advocating Holocaust remembrance as a survivor, he was also someone who worked for all the world. A few years after winning the Nobel peace prize, he established the Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity, which, in addition to Israeli and Jewish causes, campaigned for Miskito Indians in Nicaragua, Cambodian refugees, victims of South African apartheid and of famine and genocide in Africa.
Why he wrote in French
A student remembers.
RIP, Monsieur W.
