Jimmy Buffet returns to Great Woods the Xfinity Center this coming Saturday and Mansfield Police are warning tailgating fans not to bring their own jury-rigged toilets this time:
Fortunately, the folks at Live Nation New England have supplied the parking lots with an abundance of actual, health-code-compliant toilets that aren't attached to the bumper of a pickup truck. We want to get the word out early this year that the "tent toilets" will not be permitted (or tolerated). We know, we know....no one likes to poo in a Porta-Loo, but think of it as an experience to build character. Like showering at camp with a family of spiders.

I thought there's no law against peeing anywhere, as long as nobody can see your junk. So if you're in your car with tinted windows, or even just facing your car...

No, it's illegal to pee in public even if your privates are hidden. Welcome to America. The police might not always enforce it but they can if they want.
It's not as if I needed another reason to avoid a Buffet concert but idea that people pissing in buckets in the parking lot is A Thing is revolting. Presumably they are banning the practice as people have been leaving their waste for others to deal with or otherwise is making an unsanitary mess.
The outdoor urinal thing is common across Europe. The flip side is that their bathroom stalls tend to be real enclosed rooms and not some sheet metal with a broken latch as we have in the states.

The many sources on this, like here, note that commonwealth law doesn't detail open and lewd behavior related to public urination, courts have long held that it must involve knowingly and intentionally displaying genitals. Amusingly enough, it might be easier for a female to maintain, "Oh,you couldn't see anything." Discretion still rules.

Seriously, click through to see the photos. Whether or not these are legal, there are a couple of major issues here: 1. it's really, really gross; 2. in previous years many of them have been left behind in the parking lots.
I hope we can agree it's really nasty to make other people clean up your shit, even if you've been nice enough to poop it into an orange biohazard bucket.

I went to a Buffet concert there many many years ago, when it was still called Great Woods, and there were not enough port-a-johns then either. The lines were so long, people were breaking holes in the wooden fence to go in the woods. Even better, the event staff were boarding up the holes while people were still in the woods.
You'd think by now they would have figured out how to make this easier for everyone.
