We were not disappointed in our hunt for this Myopia Road sign in Hyde Park.

Adorable!
Adorable!
There Aren't Very Many Ophthalmologically Named Streets
Cataract Street, Cohoes — Google Maps
Eyeball Avenue, Jupiter — Google Maps
I (can't) see what you did
I (can't) see what you did there.
That explains a lot
actually.
Perhaps the sign maker was nearsighted
or became intolerant of lesser font.
Curable!
.
Names after hunting/country clubs
I live on Myopia Rd.
Myopia Road also intersects with Braeburn road.
Myopia Road I think is named after "Myopia Hunting Club" A Mass fox hunting club https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myopia_Hunt_Club
and Braeburn Road is named after "Brae Burn Country Club" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brae_Burn_Country_Club
My theory is that these roads (both next to the George Wright Golf course) were intentionally named after local Mass clubs....
Which leaves the question of
Which leaves the question of why a fox-hunting club is named after the condition of near-sightedness. Rather appropriate, actually, but one wouldn't expect the founders to have been so far-sighted when coming up with a name.
It seems
That the answer was in my own linked-to wikipedia article: It states:
The name "Myopia" is due to some of its founding members having come from the Myopia Club in Winchester, Massachusetts, which had been founded by four brothers with poor vision, or myopia"
There's also a Myopia Road
at the Arlington-Winchester border (I think it's on the Arlington side) that used to go to the Winchester club (which moved, is now the Winchester Boat Club and, I presume, is open to people with all kinds of vision).
