WBZ reports former Fox host Andrea Tantaros charges - in a lawsuit aimed at Fox News - that our former senator put his hands on her waist and made sexually suggestive comments.
For those of you not getting the reference, Digney Fignus was a local musician who got singed to Columbia Records in the early 80's when they were throwing money into artists and videos after MTV took off.
He had a minor hit with a song called The Girl With The Curious Hand. The woman in the video is none other than Gail Huff a/k/a Mrs. Scott Brown.
Here is the video and I swear I still have the 45.
It always strikes me as a tell when someone denies something by claiming that they'd "never" do that instead of that they "didn't" do that. Nobody asked if you could ever conceive of yourself doing it; they asked if you *did* do it. Seems like that would be a much simpler question to answer if, you know, the answer was negative.
According to several news reports I have read... in 2000, Scott Brown was a freshman state representative in Massachusetts. A few years earlier, he'd served on the Wrentham, Mass. Board of Selectmen. Jennifer Firth, a local mortgage banker who was elected to the Board of Selectmen in 1999, filed a civil defamation suit against Brown in July of 2000, alleging that he had harassed her when she worked on his campaign in 1998, and then tried to smear her reputation around town with forged letters and emails.
According to Firth's complaint, Brown engaged in "offensive" conduct that caused her to quit his campaign; he then tried to "defame and humiliate" her by spreading rumors to her colleagues that she "had made sexual advances" towards him during his campaign. She also alleged that Brown told several people that he'd had an "intimate relationship" with her and that he had a stack of sexually explicit letters that Firth had sent him.
She's a New Yorker now. And Scottie's a Live Free or Dier now. I mean, I know some people feel compelled to barf up their Hillary hate in every possible discussion, but this has nothing to do with her, so I've gone into the other room and gotten out my special Delete key (the one with the gold leaf) and will use it for other attempts to bring up Clinton here. Thxkbai.
One thing, though, to which I must strongly object: I am not hip. If you were to look my name up in a dictionary, it'd be illustrated by a perfect square.
And she'll win her state in November, unlike that guy Romney, who lived in Massachusetts once, for a few minutes. At least he got a huge landslide in his "hometown" of Belmont, but it was for Obama. Made me proud.
Longer than I had to live there to vote for her. I was a freshman at university in NY, and was able to vote in NY elections within 60 days of my arrival in the state. What's your point?
Do you know Scott Brown personally? Do you personally know the woman who is making the claims? You just think she's a liar for no reason?
Brown always seemed a little sleazy to me... phony nice guy who supposedly is a blue-collar everyman driving a pick-up truck. Yeah right. A friend of mine lives not too far from Scott Brown's former home in Wrentham... it's no working class / blue-collar property. Furthermore, I believe he owns multiple homes, which is all fine and dandy, but don't pretend to be something you're not. It's disingenuous and shows a lack of respect for your actual working class supporters.
It's hard to have respect for a person who proceeds to badmouth and belittle the very state that elected you as a senator in the first place. If Scott Brown loved New Hampshire so much why didn't he move there upon his 18th Birthday and never look back? Kinda disingenuous to make a cornerstone of your campaign a criticism of the same people you were pandering to previously.
Romney is the same way: If you hated Massachusetts so much why'd you want to become governor in the first place?
But you question whether the poster knows this woman personally....then you denigrate Scott Brown, who I doubt you know personally. The poster thinks she's a liar without knowing her, you think Brown is sleazy without knowing him. See the irony there?
Scott Brown is about as public of a politician as they come, at least in the Commonwealth. The fox host isn't as well known or at least she hasn't made her biography into non-stop TV ads.
She could be lying, sure. But there's no irony in calling out an ex-senator who attempted to stay in the spotlight while holding judgement of the non-public figure accusing him of a serious (and private) misdeed.
And nobody craves publicity like an author (based on the guest roster at every talk show, ever).
No idea who's telling the truth, but there's this:
It (lawsuit) also comes after a months-long dispute between Tantaros and Fox News regarding the termination of her employment at the network. Fox News has claimed that Tantaros invented sexual harassment claims when in fact she was in breach of contract for publishing a book without approval. Tantaros's lawyers have accused Fox News of using the book as an excuse for her termination
Fox News masquerades as a defender of traditional family values, but behind the scenes, it operates like a sex-fueled, Playboy Mansion-like cult, steeped in intimidation, indecency and misogyny...
BUT the language people use in responding to a serious allegation of wrong-doing revealsl a great deal about themselves.
The words people use and how they apply them in a response often expose their attempt to be deceptive. Look at what Brown said as well at what he didn't say. I note he talks about not going to night clubs, not dancing, having very little contact with his accuser, that he's a "gentleman," how he treats everyone the same, etc.
Night clubs, dancing, being a gentleman do not go to the genesis of the woman's allegation. It is interesting to note that in responding to the previous allegation made about him by a different person, one of the words he used to defend himself was "gentleman." Deceptive people often go back to language they have used in the past to defend themselves. They also typically try to impeach the character and integrity of the accuser.
Not being truthful is extremely hard...a person who is not being truthful does not know what "facts" supporting an allegation might surface so they attempt to deflect from the core issue by focusing on secondary issues. They offer assurances about themselves premised with words or phrases such as "I would never" or "that's not who I am" or "I have been happily married" - now if someone accused me of something that was completely false (particularly if it could damage my reputation, other relationships) I would be pissed.
My first response would not be to cite peripheral things I don't do. I would probably get a lawyer and go right at my accuser. It is extremely interesting that he says that "no one ever confronted him or spoke to him about the claim." Apparent Mr. Brown wold have us believe that this is compelling evidence of his innocence. In the alternative, if someone had spoken to him about it, would that make the allegation true? This language use is classic defection.
What we do know about Mr. Brown is that he has exhibited deceptive behavior in the past. Examples: speaking and meeting kings, queens and other world leaders, embellishing his actual combat experience, not being truthful about seeing Bin Laden's death picture.
He may be a good man (whatever that is suppose to mean) but he has demonstrated that he is veracity challenged. His selective current language sure sends up a bunch of red flags to me.
Brown was quick to point out that if there was even a whiff of wrongdoing on his part while at the Fox News studios, “They would tell me,” he said, adding, “No one has said anything."
“I have no beef with anybody at Fox,” Brown stressed, “but I’m a public figure. I understand it. When they comment on my looks, I don’t get freaked out, I just move on. I’m not going to file a sexual harassment lawsuit, that’s for sure.”
Gee, Scott, for such a seasoned public figure as yourself, it seems like you would at least have the good sense to hire yourself a publicist, rather than make tin-eared sexist equivocations like this in an interview with a newspaper.
I wonder if maybe they didn't contact you because they're actually all like this, and think it's just business as usual, until they get sued for it. And maybe you aren't going to file a sexual harassment suit of your own because you're the one doing the groping.
When they comment on my looks, I don’t get freaked out, I just move on.
Fuck man, just sign a confession why don't you. "Not only didn't I do it, but even if I did it would've been totally cool and nothing to get worked up over!"

This is not the first time he has been accused

Sounds like a humdinger.
A real page-turner, no doubt.
And really
You can't own "multiple homes", but know anything about the working class? I think Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders might disagree.

Why yes, he is.
Your value of "good man" may not be widely shared.

Since this guy has been caught in many lies (meetings with Kings and Queens, seeing the Bin Laden kill pics, etc.) he doesn't have much credibility.
