Yes, there are military-type helicopters flitting all over downtown, the South End and the harbor tonight. Boston Police acknowledge they're part of some training exercise involving the Defense Department and local police that BPD was really hoping nobody would notice, except it's hard to keep the local twitterati quiet when helicopters are afoot:

Drove by the BPD dock this morning and looks like there are some military-style boats docked there as well.
Saw them last night
Last night around 9:00ish we were on a small sail boat sailing heading back into the harbor and these four dark military looking boats came out of the cruse ship terminal area. They stayed in a formation and were going very fast without any running lights out towards the harbor islands.

Saw that once in Miami when moored on a boat. Around midnight a coast guard boat hauling ass with no lights. I guess that is why we spend the big bucks on night vision.
I slept right through this evenings festivities.
