Soon, local GateHouse outlets won't have any reporters
And not just because they're laying off more people. Dan Kennedy reports that in addition to shrinking the staff, again, GateHouse New England has decided it no longer likes the word "reporter." He quotes from a muckymuck's memo:
Accompanying our reorg will be new job titles (and descriptions!) that better describe the role of a multimedia journalist or editor in 2016. For instance, reporters use a burgeoning bag of tools to create multi-layered multimedia stories. Although “reporter” is tried and true, it’s important to signal our dramatic shift in newsgathering, both to our internal and external audiences. Please see your EIC - soon to be known as a Regional Director of News & Operations - for additional details.
EIC is, of course, "editor in chief," so looks like no role at GateHouse for Perry White or J. Jonah Jameson, either.

A rose by any other name...
I hope their office janitors have all been rebranded as sanitation engineers too.
I prefer the term ...
Mobile action news unit, myself.
Very sexist
MANU?
Perhaps mobile editorial news unit=MENU
Then you can order your Mult-layered news as you like it from the MENU.
Though probably without the Shakespearean panache.
My Title
I have always been titled "correspondent" on my sports reporting for GateHouse.

Expanding glories
In my days in the biz press, particularly the computer ones, I got Boston Bureau Chief or New England Bureau Chief. At Inc. maggy, we called ourselves writers, but the masthead had us each as Senior Editor.
Titles did not compensate for low wages. Retainers and business cards were as significant as an antimacassar on the padded chair or a lace doily. We did get press credentials and access to big shots (and all the fee booze and food available).
I see a great opportunity coming
To franchise U-Hub and provide on-the-ground news coverage in these suburban back-waters. For example, you could start:
Universal Metro-West: Co-Editors Squmquistidor & John Costello
Universal South Shore: Editor LaTulippe & Biblioteqtress
Universal North Shore: Co-Editors: TurkeyLiberationFront & Pete Nice
Universal Southern New Hampshire: Editor: Swirly & O-Fish-L
* Names chosen mainly just because they stuck in my head.
Nahhh
No one will pay to read about bike-riding turkeys being Storrowed in front of a beautiful sunset.
The Boston news sites are missing the real revenue
Just charge Bostonians for each comment they wish to post on the topic of: bicyclists, cars, EBT cards, or Obama.
Rake in the millions.
Cub multimedia journalist
Would Clark Kent of The Daily Planet ever be called a "Multimedia Journalist"?
Perry White would run a banner headline Editorial in bold letters, "Great Caesar's Ghost, No!"
It's basically almost exactly
It's basically almost exactly like John Oliver says:
