The sandwiches described on their website are pretty flagrantly similar to Banh Mi, but I'd be open to the possibility that they do something different enough to justify a higher price scale. Or maybe it's just bigger.

I love banh mi (and Num Pang seems like an upscale version) but the Pru has an entire potential clientele that simply isn't going to Allston for lunch (and maybe never for many.) Nor Chinatown or Dot.

Looks like they're doing good things with some upscale ingredients and thoughtful flavor combos. I welcome them and look forward to trying them.

As for the prices, there isn't much cheaper at the Pru. And I think most people are willing to spend a couple bucks more for a quality sandwich than the stuff going for 6-7 bucks in the old food court.

For comparison I had a burger with 2 domestic beers at 5 Napkins the other day and dropped over 30 bucks after tip, so...

Chicken ramen at Wagamama is 12 bucks. Most stuff at the Fooda pop-up is at least 8 bucks.
If you want to save money eating lunch at the Pru you better bring your own.

That's nice of you to put in a plug for your favorite Banh Mi place, but this Cambodian establishment is not a Banh Mi place, as far as I can tell. I just went to the website linked in the OP and the sandwich menu does not resemble Banh Mi very much at all.

9 bucks seems high but remember these prices are based on NYC rents. I doubt they'll be much cheaper at Pru but that doesn't mean they'll be a bad deal relative to other offerings there.

They're going somewhere near Wagamama.
Num Pang seems to have very small places in NYC. Wouldn't be surprised if Boston Properties made some space for them out in the open a la Pinkberry and Crazy Dough Pizza.
Or built new shop space for them. BP seems very creative in how they use their space.

I get emails from BP on new openings. I'll update when I get that email with a location.
