The shopping plaza at Somerville Avenue and Medford St. in Somerville used to be 100% Stop & Shop: a supermarket, a Bradlees, and a MediMart. The Stop & Shop supermarket closed, and has had a variety of tenants since then, now Fallas discount store. The Bradlees is now a Target. Supposedly that Target cannot add a full grocery section because Stop & Shop still owns the property.

Well, that's sad news. Maybe at some point their marketing people will realize that there IS a strong customer base in Dorchester, and one that's becoming stronger all the time. There must be people from Quincy/Braintree/Milton who would also use the store. I have to hope that their marketing people update their demographic data regularly and can then bring about a change in policy. It sounds like you've been pretty involved in local issues like these. Is there a way we as consumers can try to persuade them?

I would really love for Trader Joe's to come to Roslindale. I'm not a car owner, so my current options are pretty limited. I fantasize about a TJs replacing Staples (where I rarely see anyone shopping), or if the Village Market could step up its game just a little?
