Welcome to Dot reports northbound traffic on Dot. Ave. came to a complete halt in Ashmont thanks to this stupid bus driver - except for the occasional driver who tried swinging round and driving on the other side of the street.

Because there are so few places in the city to park a 45 foot coach, or even turn one around.
Pathetic excuse

Maybe they should have thought about that and checked out the situation before coming into the city with one?
Or just leaving it in the middle of the road?
Nobody owes you parking of any type. Remember that.

What if this had blocked an emergency vehicle from responding promptly?
No worries

It isn't one of those evil first amendment things - just some jerk playing the motor vehicle exception card.

Mass transit advocate?
Obviously not

The bus wasn't moving.
That's like saying that idiots who block the right of way with double parking are advocating for more car travel.
.... It was sarcasm?

The guy probably left the bus there for a quick minute while he ducked into Dunkin Donuts. He was going to be right back. Jeez, he even put his flashing lights on. He wouldn't have done that if he wasn't just running that quick errand.
On a slightly more serious note, couldn't he at least parked a foot or 2 closer to the curb. Still blocking traffic, but slightly less so.
Parking closer to the curb is now verboten

That would be blocking the bike lane.
Yeah, and that is important

Otherwise, he'd block both travel lanes, rather than just one.
it makes no difference it he was further to the right. None whatsoever. Vehicles still have to obstruct oncoming traffic to get around.
People without any spatial awareness shouldn't go off "half blocked".
You mean double parking

You mean double parking closer to the curb. And there is no bike lane there, so you cant blame cyclists, maybe try blaming Obama.

He's probably just texting and hasn't realized the traffic in front has moved on.

Clearly this must be a tour group from Germany because no self respecting Frenchman would be caught dead in Dorchester.
Dot Ave in the afternoon/

Does anyone know why the yellow school buses stop in the middle of Dot Ave and let the kids out through the back doors. What are the reasons why school buses can't drop off the kids at Ashmont and other stations using the bus way similar to college students attending U-Mass Boston?
