Shake, rattle and FiOS in Dorchester

The Dorchester Reporter reports that Verizon's FiOS rollout is making life hell for people living near the Enterprise Street garage where all the FiOS trucks are based.

Abutting full-time residents say the clamor at the facility is disturbing them through the evening into the early morning hours before picking up again a few hours later, often before 6 a.m.

I live in the city, but can't deal with moderate and expectable noise / inconvenience.

Massive trucks idling directly outside your bedroom window before 6am exceeds "moderate and expectable noise/inconvenience." A friend's house directly abuts the lot where they do this.

Trucks idling more than 5 minutes is against the law

And I've never before experienced a city that has noise outside your window like a construction site. starting at 6am or 7am, 5 days a week. This sucks after a late night in the lab, and keeps me running a sleep deficit all week.

In my particular home right now, the big dumpster trucks, beeping and straining and crashing, are probably the worst source of blast-you-awake noise, and we end up getting these almost every morning, sometimes more than one a morning.

Followed by actual construction noise, from all these fake historic houses getting gut renovations. Maybe when the wealthy people move into their gutted crappy old wood frame house with the new 3 million dollar veneer over it, they'll complain to the city about the dumpster trucks waking them at blue collar pre-dawn hours.

For noise during the day, leafblowers by landscapers is the worst. I think some of these people with the houses of 3 million or more, don't realize that their landscapers are often just killing time by waiving around leafblowers, not actually doing anything other than terrorizing neighbors and waking babies.

It's more than regular city noise. I know some of these people. They are not whiners.

this is exactly what is wrong with bros.

just because you live in city limits doesn't mean every street can be treated like landsdowne street after a sox game. every city has residential sections to them and this is a residential section of Boston.

get a clue on city living or move back to the burbs.

In a bustling neighborhood with many a city noise.

It doesn't bother me. I'll give you a shout when there is noise above the legaly mandated level, but so far I've yet to see that anywhere. And thats with Logan sending jets over a few houses down from time to time.

The red flag in the article was the guy complaining about reading, due to trucks idling.

I guess some people have better hearing and less ability to concentrate than everyone. That sucks. But the rules shouldn't be made for those at the very far outliers.

I've had encounters with these types, and they've left a lasting impression on me. Maybe that's not the case here, but I'm very suspect when it comes to this topic. More often than not the complainers are a bit unreasonable.

Big diff between a plane that is far overhead, there and then gone, and a number of massive diesel trucks that are idling outside your bedroom window at 5am.

Seems like you're focusing on one person in the article who annoys you and then dismissing the whole issue. Please tell me if that's not the case.
