It's official. Keolis to operate "Blue Level" service tomorrow

Just got this alert from the T:

Commuter rail will operate Blue Level service Tues, 3/14. Trains shaded in blue on paper schedules will not run and expresses will run local.

They still make those?

And Keolis always has a flock of minions handing them out to passengers getting off trains at North and South Stations beginning three or four days before the bi-annual schedule change. I usually pick up one each for the Haverhill and Lowell Lines to keep in my car to cover those inevitable "Oh, when does that midday train really depart" moments.

You can't get a "paper schedule" online, so I have no idea which trains are cancelled. Apparently you have to show up to the station to find out if your train is running. Brilliant!

Yes you can. Click the pdf link.

You can also see which trains are the blue cancelled ones on the PDF schedules. But not the HTML ones you see by default on the website.

The online schedules at mbta.com don't indicate which trains are cancelled during Blue Level, and my paper schedules (all dated May 23, 2016) don't show this either.

If you look at the PDFs on the mbta.com you can see the blue trips.

You can see the blue-shaded ones online if you load the .pdf version of the schedule, but it's ridiculous that the trips aren't indicated at all on the regular online version. Good grief, MBTA.

Click "Severe weather schedule" in the day-of-week dropdown.

(Not intuitive, and the schedule doesn't show the times the express trains stop at usually-skipped local stops. And the printed schedules make no reference to express trains making local stops.

That's because your May schedules are out of date. They were changed in November.

When viewing the online schedules, you can click on the PDF link above it, which displays a PDF of the printed schedule, including severe weather info.

was not adopted until the November 2016 schedules. Plus, as it's a winter thing, I doubt the Blue Level will show up in this Spring's schedule.

Right, in the spring there will be orange level service on the schedule (for hot summer days Boston when the T obviously cant operate normally) and brown level service for fall days (when leaves on the tracks make operating a train too hard). Its a rainbow of excuses. Really it should just be green level service (too many budget cuts) year round.

-MBTA at normal operation except for Mattapan line, which will have buses

-No planned travel ban but stay home if you can

-Restrictions on speed and tandems on 90 starting tomorrow

More to come ~6pm

why, when enacted under storm conditions, the speed and tandem restrictions still only apply to the Turnpike, given that the Turnpike Authority was disbanded in 2009. I mean, it's not like I-90 is the only road that's going to be affected by the blizzard.

Awful UI at http://www.mbta.com/winter/

A red 'x' under a column marked "Running" is supposed to mean the Red Line is actually running.

I tweeted this to the T and they changed the 'x' marks to checkmarks. Much better.

If only fixing the T were that easy! (but seriously good job! It looks much better now)

http://www.mbta.com/winter/ has links to each commuter line and shows which trains are canceled. Easy to figure out.

Those links weren't there when I posted my earlier comment.
