The owner was planning on having it inspected tomorrow, too.

That was my first thought. Could be perfectly innocent, hence the "hmm" rather than an "aha!" Any details available?

Cars light on fire all the time all by themselves [granted often due to misuse or disrepair by their owners].

Just a few local examples:

After all, that neighborhood already has a history of Spontaneous Wheel Disappearance!

Those wheels had value. This looks to be about a '98 Camry.

Why would being near a "high crime area" have anything to do with a person's car catching on fire while they were driving it?

See above, where I said it was my first thought, not a conclusion, and asked if anyone had more details. If you know the facts, then thanks for sharing them!

Oh, and even a '98 Camry presumably has value for the person who owns and drives it. Careful, your privilege is showing :-)

It's obviously in the middle of the street.

Are you saying they set it on fire on purpose because it's near Heath street? I don't get what you are implying.
