So where are people going to watch the results come in next Tuesday? Are there any bars having election-specific events?

Absolutely!
Come to Tatiana's Restaurant, 70 Market St in Lynn to see the results come in on the "big screen!" This event is organized by DTLna (Downtown Lynn Neighborhood Association). Everyone is welcome! We'll start arriving around 7pm. Please remember to vote, first.

Never again will I go to an election-night party with a date.
Worst date ever.
The networks were showing the non-Bush candidate ahead in the polls, everyone was happy, great party, the woman's uncle (who was Washington editor for a major paper) said over the phone that they were already opening the champagne in the newsroom... and then the tide of returns, er, turned.
With all the young law and journalism people at the party, I think there was a general atmosphere that this was something worse than merely losing a contest -- it was a major catastrophe. Not a time to be happy.
Then again, for this year, if the election is called for Obama, there could be some very good parties. :)
Election Party
No kidding. I was watching the results with a dittohead and I nearly cried when Ohio dragged out. Forget that again! I'll wait until it's called THEN go out to drink!
Either way ...
I'll be drinking either way. Toast to a new era or to a new country of residence.
Roll Your Own Block Party
Well, only if Measure 2 passes :-P
Seriously, though, all you need are some neighbors and stuff to eat and drink and a big TV. I'm planning to put the word out so people on my street can get together and watch in company.
I don't plan to make it to work until later on the 5th. I might let the kids sleep in, too. This is historic, durnit! This is the first election where they have really been aware of what is going on.
Of course I may still grab the kids and pay a visit to my niece and her husband and family ... in Oak Park. We sold some Yanks/Sox tickets for big bucks and it would just about pay for three air fares.

I'm going to a friend's house where we plan to stuff ourselves with various dips and finger foods. It's the #1 thing I'm looking forward to right now.

After I vote and before the dance party
After I vote and before the dance party, I'll be spending the day engaged fighting voter suppression activity. Let me know if you get one of these stuffed in your mailbox.

its not like a sport where if your team doesn't win there is always next year. This will change the way live. Either way i'm having a drink!
Politics not like a sport
Also, if Obama does well this year, he's not going to be playing for the Republicans next year. So you can root with confidence.
