Deli to replace cafe in the Back Bay
By adamg on Tue, 08/22/2017 - 4:58pm
Boston Restaurant Talk reports that Moody's Delicatessen of Waltham will open an outpost in the sort of Boylston Street location (deep inside the Boston Legal building plaza) where Rebecca's Cafe will close next month.

Great concept, but
Love the deli concept. But the Moody St one is very expensive and the staff range from blase' to plain-old-rude.
So, I guess they'll fit in just fine in Back Bay. :-)
The Moody, Moody Staff
Moody's
MC Slim JB must be drooling already!
I'm with the MC
When I was considering leaving a job in Waltham, losing access to Moody Delicatessen was probably the biggest vote against it. That Cuban sandwich is transcendent, the charcuterie is off the charts, and they make the only respectable andouille I've found north of the Mason-Dixon.
I am indeed excited for a proper Moody's in town.
Though it's worth noting that the Gordon's in DTX retails some New England Charcuterie products, as do a few other shops like South End Formaggio.
I hit the Waltham shop probably every six weeks for sausages, pates, and salumi to take home, less often to sit down and have one of their amazing sandwiches. Great, great stuff.
And I've never gotten anything but cordial service from their staff. Might be because they love my moms, whom I often bring with me. She loves that corned beef sandwich.
Nice
Rebecca's Cafe is awful and shouldn't even be in suburban office parks.
Replacement-level lunch spot
This Back Bay office drone is quite happy to hear this news. It's hard to imagine anything that wouldn't be an upgrade.
Righteous death by bagel in the pursuit of liberty ain't 1/2 bad
We are most glad this establishment will soon open in Greater Brookline to serve us, as long it ceases to serve us to other patrons.
I'm gonna enjoy my $14 Turkey sandwich
Yum
Last I looked, the Cooke (Moody's version of a turkey
sandwich) was $11.50, not $14. And worth it, I think.
This is a bummer
The pizza at Rebecca's is actually halfway decent, and I've always found the staff to be super-friendly.
I think the pizza at viga is
I think the pizza at viga is about the same for an area replacement.
