If you're going to rob a store at gunpoint, remember not to put the gun down on the counter

Officer Mike Keaney rounds up District C-11's latest stupid-criminal reports, including one involving a guy who burst into an Ashmont store with a gun, got impatient with how slowly the manager was getting him money from the cash register and reached over the counter to grab some bills, putting his gun down on the counter in the process - letting the manager grab it and turn the tables on him.

I witnessed it
Came out of the bathroom and saw the cashier throwing hot coffee at him. Guy fell writhing on the floor and the manager grabbed the gun and held him.
All I need
are some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.
Ha! I love it!!!
Ha! I love it!!!
herf derf
You've got a typo in the "href" property of your link, there.
Now href dref
Sorry about that and thanks - fixed, so the link now actually works.
Amazing.
I can only hope the manager proclaimed "AH HA! THE TABLES HAVE TURNED!" upon seizing the robber's gun.
Is "rounds up" supposed to link to something?
It shows up in blue and changes color when I hover over it, but there isn't a working link.

There's the tale on the police site
So, will the manager be
So, will the manager be charged with unlawful possession of a firearm? Will the robber be charged with unlawful transfer of a firearm?
Will the AG step in to ensure a FA10 was filled out before the manager took possession? Gotta follow the law folks!
I also hope they make sure that firearm was on the approved roster!
Yawn
Why don't you go down there and give them a piece of your mind ahead of time, just in case they get any ideas.
I think you forget about the
I think you forget about the former corrections officer that saved the doctor at MGH, the Shreve Crump and Low engraver that fought off armed robbers, and the off duty Boston Housing Police officer resisting a home invasion, the DJ in the LMA which also fought off a home invasion, all left hanging for months after self defense incidents in Boston under the 'because guns' legal doctrine despite being victims and properly licensed. MA does not encourage self help and will punish it via the process to make that clear to everyday nobodies.
Aint it great that
Aint it great that prosecutorial discretion is the only thing keeping this victim safe?
Do you not support enforcing the laws that you advocate for?
About guns
Forgive swirl, she's tired.
You raise valid points. He did an unlawful TX when he bought the gun, right? If the store owner gets possession is he the armed one?
Can the owner just shoot him 'in the heat of the moment'?
You got Lucky
I highly do not recommend this to any proprietor or merchant to delay it given an individual money can get you murdered, shot even harmed.
Thank GOD for dumb criminals
What delay?
The guy was complying but not as fast as the thief wanted him to go.
It's like that time Brad Hamilton was working at 7-11 and a guy came in to rob the place. He wanted the money in the safe, which was a dumb move since the safe had to be opened. Brad hadn't opened the safe much, so it took him time to get it open. The thief got impatient. I cannot remember what happened afterwards, but the guy got caught in the end, that much I am sure.
