Let's start with Arlington, because, well, Shane Curcuru compiled results for the town. If you know of other, similar Boston-area results lists, post the links here.
At Blue Mass. Group, someone noticed that the presidential results from Wilmington seem to be an extreme outlier when compared to both the surrounding towns and 2004's results. Is this an error on Boston.com?
Wicked Local Wilmington reports McCain did, in fact, win Wilmington, but not by much: 5,923 to 5,812. So looks like somebody at the Globe typed a '1' instead of a '5' for Obama.
I filled out a feedback form on Boston.com, pointing out the suspicious data, and got back this reply:
"Thank you for writing to Boston.com. Due to a reporting error by the Associated Press, the map at http://www.boston.com/news/politics/2008/election_... misstated the number of votes Barack Obama received in the town of Wilmington. The correct number of votes for Obama, 5812, now appears on this page."
No - seriously - I didn't compile results. I just happened to be on the official Town of Arlington resident update list, and got the email linking to the Excel download of detailed election results.
It was pretty impressive to get delivered the detailed precinct results by 8AM the next morning, automatically in my email. Very nice to see some town governments actually using their computers so nicely.
I suppose I should find a map of precincts in Arlington to see why the numbers peaked differently in different places.
There are several Web2.0-y websites with nice visualizations and county maps, although the really interesting issues are the ballot questions.
It was sad to see all the same-sex marriage bans go in, even if CA is going to deal with it in court again.

Are the Wilmington results wrong?

Big typo
