Im not a fan of segregated
Im not a fan of segregated events like these (except for the Special Olympics as it would be difficult to them to compete in traditional races venues.) I just feel that it seperates us rather then unites. As a young liberal straight white guy I do feel kind of left out on many occasions because you have all of these different events aimed just at people who look or act a certain way, but if I just head back to people who all look like me its all Nascar and hunting.
That being said I guess if your going to have the gay games anywhere in the US it should be in Boston. After all we are the only state that currently allows for 100 percent gay rights (marriage, adoption ect.) California doesnt deserve to host it again until they allow gay people to marry. I guess a case could be made for putting it somewhere where gay people dont have as many rights as to increase awareness as well, maybe by 2014 more states will allow gay marriage anyway.
How about a gay state
And a gay channel, then all the gay stuff can be in its own world, as it seems to want to be. (oh shit, is Mass the gay state? hehe)
Don't gays already enjoy regular guy-on-guy sports? I fail to see any appeal here...
Gay Games do seem a little
Gay Games do seem a little like the "special" olympics to me, but I think there is most certainly a place for gay people having there own events and gatherings. I like having places and bars and restaurants that are for gay people. I don't want gay people to completely assimilate into mainstream culture.

Well there is a gay channel,
Well there is a gay channel, but my gay friends tell me that its not that great. They all watch Lifetime instead. I can understand wanting a gay channel or gay clubs ect because gay people like different things then the general public. The thing with gay sports is, like you said, its the same as other sports, but just with gay people for gay people. Not for nothing we live in an age where a gay person can participate in sports. What can be so different about it if everyone is gay as opposed to some being gay and some straight, or all of them being straight?
Yeah, I see your point about
Yeah, I see your point about the Gay Games too. I'll let ya'll in on an inside secret, Gay TV and special interest gay movies are so sub-par that its an embarrassment and evey gay person knows it. The lesbian stuff is even worse--see a movie called "Bar Girls" to see what I mean. I shudder now as I recall it.

Straight or Gay, Anyone can participate in Games
The Gay Games is open to all who wish to participate, without regard to sexual orientation. There are no qualifying standards to compete in the Gay Games. It brings together people from all over the world, many from countries where homosexuality remains illegal and hidden.
The purpose of the Federation of Gay Games is to foster and augment the self-respect of lesbians and gay men throughout the world and to engender respect and understanding from the nongay world, primarily through an organized international participatory athletic and cultural event held every four years, and commonly known as the Gay Games.[
