Healy booking photo
From the DA's office.
A senior officer in the Suffolk County Sheriff's office was charged today with raping a female inmate at the South Bay House of Correction.
Lt. Thomas Healy, 41, of Quincy, pleaded innocent in Roxbury District Court to charges of rape, indecent assault and battery, and having sexual relations with a prisoner as a jail guard, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office, which said in a statement:
Evidence suggests that Healy approached the victim in her cell on Nov. 12, first groping and then raping her, Conley said. That incident sparked an internal probe by Suffolk Sheriff's personnel and a subsequent investigation by the Sexual Assault Unit of the Boston Police Department.
"The abuse of power and authority here is just repugnant," DA Dan Conley said.
This is the second allegation of illegal acts by a South Bay employee in a year. Last December, a jail worker was charged as part of a drug ring that allegedly smuggled drugs into the jail for sale to inmates.

If, indeed the guy is guilty as charged, here's hoping that he gets put behind bars....for a good long time.
Innocent until proven guilty

Innocent until proven guilty! Let's not forget this when judging allegations brought forth by a convicted criminal, against a 17yr veteran officer who is know personally and would vouch for his integrity all day long. A man where family and friends always come first!
My prayers are with the Healy’s at these tough times.
Even more sickening ...

is the fact that a guard having sexual relations with a prisoner in a Massachusetts prison or jail was not even considered to be a crime until only very recently.
In fact, many guards appeared to consider it a perk to trade favors in such a way, which magically rendered the exchange "consensual" (if you forget about the power dynamics, that is ...). I'm trying to remember what year the scandals broke in that regard. I know the clarified statutes were tested a couple of years ago.

about ten years ago there were a few problems at nashua st. a kid i went to grade school with was a sgt there at the time and he was convicted of assaulting a prisoner with tourettes syndrome.the sgt got 7 years in prison and a major housecleaning followed. lots of guards were fired for different charges ranging from sexual assault to drug dealing.this was all at nashua street jail. i think about the same time there were problems at mci shirley, something with a retarded inmate and a birthday cake.

a jail is supose to have 24 hour servalince. and you couldnt
catch this.
just like you did see the female officer have seuxal interactions
with other female in mates.
and what about the over crowding of mental health patiants in jail.
alot of thos women are sick physicaly and mentaly.
i know healy and he is not a bad person and i dout highly
that who every made these accusation is telling the story truth- fully.
eather she was lieing or
was not telling the hole truth.
i stick to my story Lt. Healy desirves better.
