The MBTA just announced it will be running shuttle buses between Sullivan Square and North Station this weekend due to the need for "emergency station repairs" at the Community College Orange Line stop.

10 years ago they were barely doing maintenance.
Of course, if Frank Sargent was a better governor, we wouldn’t be having these problems now.

Volpe & Sargent generated the transit and highway balance you enjoy today. Their station, rail, and highway projects were built to last 30+ years. Dukakis tired to one-up Volpe & Sargent with riskier crappier projects and failed. His station and rail projects were built to last 5 years at best. Read something beyond Dukakis talking points

Let’s hear your logic on how Dukakis is to blame for the current state of Community College Station. Some other anon, probably you since all anons look the same to me, claimed that the Duke was to blame for Braintree Station being a shitshow because construction was authorized during his first term. By that logic, Sargent screwed the pooch on Community College.
Or we just admit that forward funding, while well intentioned, lead to the lack of maintenance of the T.

It's been said before, but again: Shutting down expansions wouldn't devote one single dollar to maintenance. The expansion money is earmarked, comes from a separate budget, and can't be reallocated; much of it is composed of federal grants that are legally bound to the projects for which the money was granted. Shut down expansion projects and the money is taken back by the feds.
No. Several loopholes can allow the state to shift the funding

Unfortunately the shift won't happen until another major T collapse

It's great that the MBTA is taking safety seriously and doing emergency repairs. The shuttles are usually pretty quick but they do add to the commute time. Whether you are traveling to work or school, public transportation is necessary unless you can afford luxury cars. I hope they get these trains up and running soon.

This is so confusing now. The MBTA alerts do say the shuttles are 6-9am on the 21st; it appears they corrected the earlier statement that they were running all weekend. But WBUR just announced that shuttles are running all weekend. Hopefully they are just reporting old information.

Where were you living in 2015? It was probably a nice place. The T shutting down a section of track for a few hours on a Sunday morning was a good day in February of 2015.
As some friends or co-workers about commutes at that time. Miles of heavy rail line closed for days. 15 minute headways a given on the Orange Line during rush hour.
