Another Passover necessity
Oh for pete's sake
I can't wait until the merchandisers learn about Rosh Hashanah.
That's nice
spice.
Dammit
Now I can't get that stupid Bernie and Phyll's jingle out of my head.
Right up there
with garlic ice cream which I tried. Once.
Man, oh Manischewitz
Sir Galahad wouldda loved it. (Sir G, of course, was a knight like no other knight.)
This doesn't sound terrible at all to me. Sweet
and spicy is a flavor combination as old as the hills, probably caught some momentum once capsicum chilies started spreading from South America across the world in the wake of the conquistadors.
I really like Mike's Hot Honey and good butter drizzled on jonnycakes, for one. And one of my very favorite small plates in Greater Boston is Sichuan wontons in spicy chili sauce, which has the sweetness, capsaicin heat, and weird cold-hot-heat of Sichuan peppercorns that is a hallmark of traditional Sichuan cuisine The nicest version I've found locally is at the Sichuan Gourmet mini-chain: lovely, delicate wrappers.
I just reviewed the new Blossom Bar at Sichuan Garden in Brookline Village for The Improper: http://www.improper.com/food-drink/awesome-blossom/ . Its rendition has similar virtues, but I don't like their thicker, chewier wrappers as much as Gourmet's.
