Boston Police report an officer was forced to shoot a dog that would not stop tearing into a woman this afternoon outside 133 Eustis St. in Roxbury - right next door to where two people were shot last night.
Because of the severity of the woman's injuries, the homicide unit was called in. However, police now say the woman's injuries are not considered life threatening. The dog also survived; city animal control was called in to take the dog away.

let me guess, you've never actually been in the same room as a pit bull.
every breed of dog has the ability to be an @sshole. usually because their owners beat/neglect them and treat them like trash.

They don't always attack people, but when they do they really fuck people up.

if my pit/cane corso mix is any comparison, then probably the best 'weapon' to compare your dog to would be a sloppy wet kiss on the cheek from that one aunt who is way too excited to see you at Christmas

German shepherds will eff you up, dobies and rotties, too! Great danes as well. Even a psycho lab can do severe damage.
Nothing special about pitties - just their undeserved reputation.

Everybody loses their cool, but there is a difference between getting into fight with an mma practitioner vs some unathletic schmoe. It's the reason so many more pit bull attacks are fatal

This is fortunately a rather rare occurence, but disturbing nonetheless. I would be interested to know more about the circumstances. Imagine just walking down the street in your neighborhood and suddenly getting mauled by a dog?

That NEVER crosses the thought of many dog owners, experienced or not. If they ever cared to admit it.

pitbull owner here:
no, the owner is liable for the behavior of their dog. it is also the owners duty to protect their dogs from bad situations. that is why i really hate it when i see someone tie their dog up outside of a store. you don't know what will happen or who will come by.
sure, your golden doodle might be great, but if some dickhead teenager comes by and pokes it in the eye, and the dog bites the kid, the dog is the one who gets most punished. not the owner who didn't protect their pet, not the shitty brat who tortured a sentient creature.
general rule: don't put your dog in a situation you wouldn't put a toddler. get a good fence, keep an eye on them, keep them away from bad people.
