ARL press conference on Nick the pit bull.
These dogs are often stolen
These dogs are often stolen to be used for illegal fighting purposes. Many people believe that small dogs are stolen to be bait dogs, but this is often not the case. To train a dog to attack another fighting dog, it needs to be paired with something its size. This is bad news for unsuspecting Pit Bull owners, as they may find their beloved pets stolen and taken to a terrible place. With Pits, it’s not just the stealing we need to end, it’s the fighting, too.
so glad this had a happy ending
most stories involving the mistreatment of dogs, particularly pitbulls, don't end so happily.
Adorable!
What about the dog park?
Will the ARL reopen the park to the neighborhood now? They closed it off citing insurance even though they only got planning permission because they agreed to open access. Short memories.
The insurance issues are
The insurance issues are because the community was abusing it, dog walkers bringing multiple dogs, many of which were poorly controlled, overcrowding, fighting, not a safe environment. The ARL has a responsibility first and foremost to the animals in their care, and if their animals were being endangered by the community and other businesses callously taking advantage of the resource, then of course that resource is getting cut off.
