Score one for Brian
The past relationship is an extremely important context that Hilary conveniently omitted.
And even without it, a single question of "what do you wear when you write," followed by an immediate desist when it became apparent there was no interest, does not in any way amount to harassment.
What were you wearing when
What were you wearing when you wrote that?
Just because they dated ...
... doesn't give him a special pass to harass.
Is this a bot-generated reply?
Because the statement "he doesn't get a pass to harass" doesn't relate to this particular story in any way.
To prove that you're a human and that you read the story, please select the actions that included harassment in this case.
Was it the single text message that asked "What do you wear when you write," followed by nothing?
I think Brian McGrory has
I think Brian McGrory has always been a good guy and I truly hope this is a case of a woman scorned. I'm sure this post won't be favored by most on UH.
McGrory memo raises more questions than answers
What does "personal banter of two people very familiar with each other" mean? I still communicate with a few ex-girlfriends on occasion but never regret those conversations and certainly don't ask them what they're wearing.
McGrory admits that he and Sargent dated "many years ago" but doesn't specify the year(s) and for how long they dated. Was McGrory already engaged or married to the veterinarian who he wrote about in his 2012 book about the rooster? If it was prior to that, it would put Sargent in her 20's or early 30's at the time as there is a 17 year age difference.
McGrory says Sargent never worked for him but doesn't specify what position (no pun intended) each worked when they were dating. Even if Sargent didn't report directly to McGrory, if he was in a position of significant power in the organization, dating seems like terrible judgment at best. McGrory's request for the Globe to obtain texts rings hollow. If it was "many years ago" how many phones ago was it?
Poetic justice for those who have bashed any conservative indiscretions from Justice Thomas to President Trump. John Henry's newfound sleep with the removal of Yawkey Way was shortlived. This isn't going away.
Stop kissing Trump's ass, for the love of God
There's nothing worse than a blue-collar-type sucking a rich man's butt.
Oh right, it’s just like Trump
Um, the only charge here is that McGrory asked her “what do you wear when you’re writing?” Not quite like “grabbing them by the pussy” or chatting about a pubic hair on a soda can. But it's all the same in “lock her up” world.
"date" is term open to interpretation
One night stand?
Affair?
Got coffee together a few times?
Sargent is deranged.
Nothing more, nothing less. After all this screeching and yelling and the games she's been playing on social media when if she had said once that she had dated McGrory, then she would have tipped her hand as the lunatic I personally believe she is.
I truly believe she needs help and I hope she gets it.
No you don't
No you don't
Guess what?
I would not have said it if I didn't mean it.
You might mean it
Doesn't make it any less sexist or any more true.
Right?
Not like I have any experience with aberrant behavior.
People should not use sex to get ahead in life.
I was just talking to my partner about this the other day. Look at how Joan Vennocci made it to the top from hard work and smarts, I would doubt anyone would ever accuse her of harassment. Also her boss the managing director of the Globe. What a way with words !!
Older men soliciting younger women just leaves an odd taste in my mouth.
