State wildlife officials are turning to the public to get a handle on just how many turkeys we have in the state now (beyond "Lots! And that's just on my block!"). They've posted a form to let you report all your turkey sightings (the form refers to "poults" - those are baby turkeys).
The form only lists "Boston" as a community, but there's a notes field where you could add Roslindale or the North End or wherever.

We cannot be counted
We are innumerable

Never beneath the heels of our would be oppressors
WE THE MIGHTY

Either Lexington is no longer a part of the Commonwealth or they already know about all of the turkeys here (not a choice on the "town where seen" pulldown).

What is the goal of the turkey count?

Curious if there is a stated goal for the count, like a potential hunt or "birth control" program? Also wondering about the accuracy of any count of a highly mobile bird that could be in West Roxbury one minute and Dedham the next, same for any other Boston neighborhood that borders a different city or town.
