The murals of Allston Hall
By adamg on Wed, 06/27/2018 - 6:10pm
City Realty's filing of plans for its Allston Square project starts the clock ticking for the paintings that have long graced the window frames of the old Allston Hall and a neighboring building at Franklin and Braintree streets, just off the intersection of Harvard Avenue and Cambridge Street. So if you want to see them, now would be a good time.
In the meantime, here are photos of some of them.

Murals Being Donated
Hi all,
The murals in question are all actually painted onto canvas inserts specifically so they could be moved. We've already begun discussions with Allston Main Streets about donating the murals so they can be relocated.
Thank you for bringing this
Thank you for bringing this up and for doing this,
hadn't heard about this
but I'm relieved that it will look exactly like the "continuum" bullshit at Harvard and Western above Trader Joe's in Cambridge.
We are a bunch of hermit crabs as a species.
really
I mean why not replace the incredibly quirky muraled buildings with large boxes of glass bullshit?
how about a fucking escalator for that bridge too?
gdit now I'm pissed
Let's not get too attached
Someone painted awesome coverings to enliven an otherwise abandoned, depressing building. Now someone comes along and promises to enliven the building with REAL people....and every starts complaining.
Make no escape, these are
Make no escape, these are just pretty boarded up windows. That is, they were a cheaper option to replacing windows in a building that was not being maintained well at all.
Go around the corner and you see that the same building is really pretty much boarded up windows https://goo.gl/maps/yjZpVmTsaVJ2
Next thing you know, we'll be required to keep that quirky building at the corner of Main and Portland in Cambridge, look at that wonderful tarp, hiding the unmaintained building underneath https://goo.gl/maps/XNZtNyf7k132
City Realty.
Bad news for every neighborhood they invade with their laundered money from Russia.
Too late
Like the rest of the neighborhood hasn't already been bought up by Russian and Chinese landlords...
These murals are gorgeous
These murals are gorgeous examples of how art can beautify buildings in the city! They offer a nice "slice of life" glimpse into city life and the people that live here.
