Serial Esplanade rapist gets 18 to 22 years

A Suffolk Superior Court judge today sentenced Alejandro Done, 49, of the South End, to 18 to 22 years in prison - but with much of that to run concurrently with, rather than after, a Middlesex County rape sentence he is already serving, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Suffolk County prosecutors had asked for a sentence of 25 to 30 years in prison for Done, who admitted last month he had been attacking women on the Esplanade for years. And they had asked that his Suffolk County sentence start only after he'd finished his Middlesex sentence of 10 to 12 years for raping a woman there after picking her up in his Uber car on Tremont Street in Boston in 2014.

Done pleaded guilty last month to two counts of aggravated rape, one count of rape, one count of assault with intent to rape, two counts of kidnapping, and one count of armed robbery for attacks on three women on the Esplanade in 2006, 2007 and 2010 - for which authorities had long warned women about walking on the Esplanade alone late at night.
