Walsh to scooter companies: Slow your roll

The Herald reports Mayor Walsh is warning scooter companies that their wheeled products will be ruthlessly rounded up and stuck in storage if they show up in Boston, at least before the city comes up with regulations for them.

The things suddenly appeared Friday on the streets of Cambridge and Somerville.

On the Bird app all of Boston is now marked as a no go zone. I don’t know if that means they penalize users who go there or if it’s just a recommendation.
Also noticed that their TOS limits user weight to 200 pounds. If you’re carrying any sort of bag that excludes a decent number of adult men.

Dinky little scooters on four wheels that get about the same MPG as a Corolla? Oh, wait, they don't sell gas-powered cars anymore. Make that: Dinky little scooters on wheels that get less mileage than a Leaf? Yeah, I guess they make sense if you only ever drive around the Back Bay, downtown and the Seaport.

Those products are properly registered with a plate number that allows the owner to be identified. The owner is required to abide by a series of regulations concerning the stationment of the products on the city's streets.

just came back from Austin, these things were everywhere there. Quite fun though! They were left everywhere though. I can imagine these will lock up as soon as snow/salt makes it on the roads.
