Walsh to scooter companies: Slow your roll

The Herald reports Mayor Walsh is warning scooter companies that their wheeled products will be ruthlessly rounded up and stuck in storage if they show up in Boston, at least before the city comes up with regulations for them.

The things suddenly appeared Friday on the streets of Cambridge and Somerville.

Scoot, scoot, scoot.

On the Bird app all of Boston is now marked as a no go zone. I don’t know if that means they penalize users who go there or if it’s just a recommendation.
Also noticed that their TOS limits user weight to 200 pounds. If you’re carrying any sort of bag that excludes a decent number of adult men.

Scooter company will be prominatley displayed on the list next year.

Get on Baker and friends to fix the goddamn T already, and maybe people won't want these things? Maybe?

Just a suggestion for ya Mr. Mayor Car Dystopia!

If only Marty were as determined to purge the city of space savers.

I’m sure those scooters work great in the snow.

the people who scoffed at Smart Cars, even though they were popular in Montreal for years before they got here.

Of course, you can't even walk ten paces without huffing and puffing, so ...

Dinky little scooters on four wheels that get about the same MPG as a Corolla? Oh, wait, they don't sell gas-powered cars anymore. Make that: Dinky little scooters on wheels that get less mileage than a Leaf? Yeah, I guess they make sense if you only ever drive around the Back Bay, downtown and the Seaport.

I scoff in your general direction.

Sorry, just catching my breath. Wtf do smart cars have to do with anything? Better yet, what do space savers have to do with scooters? U-Hub mad libs must be a fun hobby.

Who is Marty going to get to collect all these scooters?

The city can barely pick up its own trash.

Why are companies like Toyota, BMW, and Honda allowed to dump their products on our streets?

Those products are properly registered with a plate number that allows the owner to be identified. The owner is required to abide by a series of regulations concerning the stationment of the products on the city's streets.

Always the voice of reason!

Cars and reason don't go together.

just came back from Austin, these things were everywhere there. Quite fun though! They were left everywhere though. I can imagine these will lock up as soon as snow/salt makes it on the roads.
