Truly world class at last: Boston to be destroyed in next Godzilla movie

Boston is destroyed by a giant wave or something in next Godzilla movie

From the Citgo Sign to the R2-D2 building. See it larger.

Eagle-eyed kaiju fan Chris Devers alerts us that the trailer for next summer's "Godzilla: King of the Monsters" features Boston being destroyed by a tsunami (coming, oddly, from Cambridge).

Now that's going out in style.

Tsunami of what from Cambridge? motorized scooters?

It's something to do with Alan Dershowitz.

That would almost certainly not be adorable...

I'm sure the trailer must be incorrect and that this is not a half-baked stupid internally-inconsistent idea greenlit on the strength of marketing and CGI.

That's just the test-trailer for national audiences.

I'm waiting for the regional version:

Townie Heroes: Dawn of the Titan-Smasher

An all-star cast portrays cops, hoods, and local figures who heroically band together and use their working-class heritage, odd accents, loyalty and copious amounts of violence to destroy the threat of the 12 Titans for all time.

starring Mark Wahlberg, Ben Affleck, Leonardo Dicaprio, Jack Nicholson, Matt Damon, Sean Penn, Lenny Clark, David Ortiz, Johnny Depp, Keith Lockhart, The Dropkick Murphys, Shelby Scott, and Avery Brooks.

In a desperate race against time, the unlikely heroes recover the fragments of a mystic talisman from their hiding places across Boston (but mostly in white neighborhoods). The reformed talisman channels the powers of the twelve into Avery Brooks, multiplying his own kick-ass power and enabling him to meet Godzilla, King of the Monsters in epic combat.

The tidal wave seen in the trailer is a misleading clip. Yes, a tidal wave starts out, fueled by the thrashing death-throes of Godzilla (nobody defeats the Sisko, I mean Hawk). He's able to use Shelby Scott's power to reduce the tidal wave to a mere king tide, overwashing Commercial Wharf. In Boston, that is... Revere and Quincy do get destroyed.

It's thousands of years in the future— the remnants of the Bunker Hill Monument lie in pieces amidst piles of rubble.

Yet, Boston is still remembered as the place where people stood up and fought for independence from a colonial power.

The "Shot Heard Around the World" is mentioned as a rallying cry for a shot, potentially heard around the galaxy.

There's a very prominent street in Boston which has a name quite relevant to the show's story.
                    ( no, it's not Federation Avenue )

So what’s the name of the show you’re binge watching Elmer?

The show ran for five seasons, with 110 episodes.

It's not part of the Star Trek canon, although at first, people might wonder if it is.

Someone featured in more Star Trek TV shows and movies than anyone else is very prominent behind-the-scenes, but does no acting of any kind in this show.

One of the most feared enemies is a species with the same name as a Quebec city, located at the junction of A-10 and A-55.

Wow do you have shitty taste in shows. To quote a friend, the best thing about that show was Kevin Sorbo's acting, which should tell you something.

The only way to know if you like a show, is to watch it— preferably the entire work, with all episodes in order. Right now, I'm in the middle of season four and willing to stick with it to the end. Whether or not I'll ever watch it again remains to be determined.

Sounds like Fallout 4.

My son actually found our neighborhood by tracking in from Bedford Depot.

For some reason, the Stonados franchise never took off like the Sharknado series.

Stonados was brilliant! Disgruntled scientist, unqualified helpers, clueless leadership. The University of Boston stadium (go Lions!) overlooking Boston harbor! And of course, stellar dialogue, outstanding acting and well-researched science. Everything you look for in a movie from SyFy. Totally worth watching.

Eagle eye may want to get his vision checked. That is smoke, not water.

Godzilla had just finished downing a ton of linguica and fava beans over on Cambridge Street to load the carbs before battle. This is the atomic belch that followed . .

...why it's remotely entertaining (regardless of the degree of fictional storytelling) to visually watch realistic images of the area you live/work in undergo catastrophic destruction.

Then when a very real negative circumstance occurs to the same area, everyone (rightly so) begins to panic.

I don't understand why it's desired to pay $10 to watch your "home" be pretend-destroyed, only to witness a fraction of such destruction actually occur & watch in horror. Someone please provide some insight so I can "get" it.

Isn't it a lucky coincidence, then, that nobody is forcing you to either watch it or buy a ticket.

Someone please provide some insight so I can "get" it.

It's make-believe.

Ok, is nobody going to point out to the author that a tsunami is a giant wave. Nothing seen in the trailer looks even remotely like a tsunami it's very obviously a massive storm and what is coming toward the main character isn't water, it's a enormous cloud of ash and debris.

That doesn't look anything like a tsunami. It's some sort of cloud cause by strong winds - which appears to be how the other monster destroys stuff as shown in another scene later in the trailer.
