Anybody want to buy a TV station? Move-in condition

All Access reports that Cox, which bought Channel 25 from Fox, is looking to sell the Dedham-based station - along with the 13 other TV stations it owns. If there's any justice in the world, somebody will form a company called Lox and buy it.

Let's hope the Sinclair Broadcast Group doesn't become the new owner.

I've heard from the station engineering staff that Cox is far better to work for than when it was o/o Fox.

Hard to see this ending well for the local employees.

Now, I'm not at all surprised, but I used to watch 25 in the morning, back before Cox took over, and before channel 7 split from NBC and gave me a real morning show to watch. They're local, they focus on local news, and they give me the shit I need when I'm getting ready for work: traffic, weather, headline news, both local and national.

But boy did they go downhill. No more interviews with local politicians. No more fluff pieces. I guess there's still a firehouse friday and a zip trip? Meh. Who cares? The real news is on stubborn as all hell WHDH.

I agree. I used to watch Fox25 quite a bit, and its changed a bit. A lot of the old fav personalities are gone. I think I only tune in to watch Kevin with the weather but even that's kinda mehhh now.

I hope they don't get bought by Sinclair also. We're the only market that doesn't have an Sinclair owned station (they do own a station in Providence however)

Count me in too. Fox 25 team was part of every weekday morning for 6-7 years for me. Gene, Kim, Anquenette, Cindy, VB and Doug M seemed to genuinely like each other too. Miss those Mail Calls, Let it Rip, VB rants and on site interviews. You see these people 5x a week and it’s comfort. Once the sale happened I haven’t watched since.

BOX, as in Idiot Box?

I gotta admit, SOX is a good idea, wish it were mine.

Wonder if Ansin/Sunbeam would want to buy them.

I think Ansin has been looking to make WHDH a Fox affiliate ever since NBC took away their affiliation. The only problem - their sister station, WSVN, may lose their Fox affiliation in favor of another station (WSFL).

Two possible scenarios:

1. Sunbeam buys WFXT (channel 25); WHDH (channel 7) becomes Fox, WFXT becomes an independent station.
2. Another company buys WFXT, offers to give Channel 7 the Fox affiliation in exchange for CW affiliate WLVI (channel 56). WFXT becomes a CW affiliate, and WLVI becomes an independent station.

We have not had a Red Sox or Celtics network affiliate in Boston for a few years now. Is this an opportunity to bring one or both of the teams back to TV?

I wish that would happen, but given that the Sox own a majority interest in NESN, I don't think they're going to be moving their games to broadcast TV.
