Dorchester man who screamed at woman on motorcyle was arrested; faces possible civil-rights charges

A man captured on video screaming at a black woman about "his neighborhood" on Friday night was arrested for disorderly conduct for the incident but could face more serious civil-rights charges, the Dorchester Reporter reports.

I'm no lawyer but combining his threats, telling them that they didn't "belong" in his neighborhood and "According the BPD report, Sheehan was repeatedly yelling "F--k that [N-word]."" it may add up to a civil rights violation.

Freedom of speech would have been plausible if he was shouting to his imaginary friend. But he was shouting to a whole woman spewing racial comments at her saying she doesn't belong in his neighborhood shooting. That's called harassment once she asked him to back off the first time and that harassment was developed based on her skin color because clearly she wasn't shooting. Which makes it a civil rights violation. And why would anybody defend this kind of freedom of speech when it involves ridiculing other people. He screamed it is his neighborhood yet he owns no real property over there hence how he yells he is paying a mortgage, which means "his" beloved house is technically property of the bank. If he doesn't want to see African Americans in his neighborhood maybe he should get a bank loan else where and move out of network. Dorchester is one of the most diverse neighborhoods in Boston and it is more than sad to see such people exist in a space where monumental history has been made by people of all race and color. Terrible.

The civil rights issue happened after he was sent home and came back out and swung on a traffic sign screaming "F that N". So, if there was any question from the video encounter as to the source of his animus, he solved the question for us according to the officer's report.

A ROAD RAGE incident, complete with mean spirited smack talk. Just wow. If I had a dollar for everytime in my life someone has screamed atme homophobic, racist mean spirited words.

This wasn't road rage.
Mr. Sheehan lives on Adams Street and appears to have been outside due to the collision that ended the earlier chase at his building's doorstep. Adams Street was closed at Beaumont due to the collision and as a result the woman and her friend were diverted onto Chelmsford St (I assume while trying to head north on Adams). They parked and were discussing how to get off the side street and how to get north of the closure (which seems like it'd be a nightmare based on my looking at a map of that area) when Mr. Sheehan approached them on Chelmsford to start yelling at them which is where the video picks up.
He was gawking at the police activity, didn't like seeing two black people on motorcycles turn into Chelmsford and park, and started hyperventilating. This wasn't road rage, it was bigot rage.
And he wasn't defensively venting adrenaline like in a close call on the road by calling them animals and the N-word (which still isn't acceptable). He was quite clearly telling them that he didn't want them in his neighborhood because he didn't think they lived there and he didn't want them bringing "their" "other stuff" near his house. He was blowing his dog whistle as loud as he could and even slipped and started saying what he really felt. When the cop made him leave, the gloves were off and he decided he needed to just say exactly what his racist mind wanted to get off his chest at the time.
And all they did was follow the detour they were sent on because of the recent collision on Adams Street.
