Locations announced for new Blue Bikes stations in Roslindale, Mattapan and parts of Dorchester

The city and Blue Bikes yesterday posted a map showing where new Blue Bikes docking stations will be set up within the next few weeks.

The docking stations will be the first in Roslindale, which will get five, and Mattapan, which will get four. The bike-rental system will also be expanding in Dorchester.

That's ironic, no?

If you find yourself using bluebikes all the time, stop in!

Blue Bikes officially requires people to use helmets and they (and/or the city of Boston, however it's organized) try to partner with stores to encourage that, so being right next to a bike store is a great way to make that easier.

And besides, bikeshares fill a different niche from privately owned bikes, since being able to ride to a destination but then take some other mode of transportation back without having to retrieve your bike later can be extremely convenient.

Another Roslindale issue: No bikes east (or is that south?) of Washington Street.

See, clearly Steve Lynch has done a better job securing bike share stations for his district than our other rep.

Back when I was a full time Bike Commuter (these days kids make that harder) I used to wish there was outside the shops I dropped my bike off of maintenance. Kinda Like how bigger Body shops happen to have Rental Car either on premises or next door.

Drop your own bike off at the shop, ride home on a blue bike. Well, perfect if you live closer to a blue bike dock than to the bike shop.

has had a Hubway station right in front of their door since day the first days of Hubway (here's August 2013: https://goo.gl/maps/Hd2Z3tpYchm ) and they seem to be doing fine. I patronize both regularly.

You'll become much improved at passing.
They'll become more familiar and less panicky at being passed.

One hopes.
