The Boston Licensing Board voted yesterday to deny requests from Wingz and Tingz to serve up chicken wings and things until 3 a.m. on Fairmount Avenue in Hyde Park and Blue Hill Avenue in Grove Hall.
The decision means the Hyde Park branch has to stick with its current midnight closing time and Grove Hall with its current 11 p.m. closing time.

Because in these neighborhoods (especially Grove Hall), nothing good happens after like 11 pm
I wouldn’t say that about Hyde Park

But Logan Square feels to me like the kind of place that would be asleep by midnight. My guess is that the neighbors objected.
I won’t even hazard a guess what the citizens of Grove Hall thought about a 3 AM closing. My gut is that they don’t see themselves as being the late night Mecca of Boston.

Sounds like the neighborhood needs more places open late.

What do you mean "these" neighborhoods? I've been living in this neighborhood for years and understand bad things happen in nice neighborhoods too they just keep quiet about it.

It's called residents want quiet and not be a go to place for the adventurous.
racism really

Th reason it was rejected is to purposely dampen the hopes of young Bostonians of color and they don’t want us to have anything fun and vibrant of it not Cambridge or Somerville Or somewhere. Because the clientele isn’t rich white kids it’s spat on.

But Boston? No, it's the late-night thing - there's a reason I wrote the headline I did. I mean, even Allston taco places get told no for late hours.
What did the neighbors say?

Did they come out in support of the proposal?
That sways the City, even more than racism.

Wings n Tingz has not been a very beneficial part of our Hyde Park neighborhood as it is. They throw their trash in city barrels on the street and in the dumpsters of neighboring businesses. Their customers throw their trash on the street and the sidewalks in the area are often littered with chicken bones. Customers and delivery drivers constantly double park and block traffic. I'm glad we will spared another 21 hours a week of this. It is a quality of life issue for those of us who live here. Hyde Park is one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the City of Boston and I truly believe race is not a factor in this decision.
