Martin Lieberman was among the tens of thousands who lined Boylston and Cambridge street to watch the Red Sox rolling rally today. Among the people he spotted: Relief pitcher Joe Kelly and 2004 star Pedro Martinez.

Reflections on a season
*Paying even cursory attention to the hyper-charged hyperbole of Boston-area sports media and its followers/commenters (Get rid of Bradley Jr.! Shouldn't-a hired Cora, no experience! Get rid of Price! Trade for Machado, dump Devers and Nunez! Pearce and Eovaldi -- that's the best they could do for trades?), it's easy to get the idea that the 2018 Red Sox must be the Worst Best Team of All Time.
*Identifying the source and significance of the phrase "I just went head-over-heels in my chair" should be included in the criteria for assessing Boston cred.
Red Sox
Does anyone know where all the nip bottles came from? They were all over the Boston Common even filling the Brewer Fountain on Tremont Street. Did someone give them out? There were too many to think people were buying them.

From...liquor stores? Is this a trick question?
People buy them. In liquor stores. It's good business. I know a downtown Boston store that has some truly excellent wine and liquor - and every time I'm in there buying, for every one person buying a full bottle of something there are three or four who come in and buy a nip.
Plus
You can easily buy 10+ for the price of a bottle of something else, and it's a lot easier to bring in 10+ nips in your pockets or bag than a 6-pack of beer.
