Mulled wine

Kaitlin wonders where she can get some mulled wine in this burg, does not specify if she wants it heavy on the cinnamon and light on the cloves.

We don't need any characters around to give the joint atmosphere.

It would never occur to me to seek this elsewhere as I make my own. Good to know that it is available for those who don't want to produce it in the quantities that it usually requires.

If anyone wants to make their own, Hong Kong Super 88 in Malden has really cheap spices.

...for spices, although it's gotten a lot harder since all the coops that sell bulk spices have shut down. Polcari's in the North End will have fresher spices than the 88.

When I don't feel like making up a huge batch, I can get pretty close with a glass of burgundy, a splash of brandy or spiced rum, a splash of strongly-brewed tea (I like Constant Comment for this) with spices, and a bit of fruit juice (orange, pineapple, whatever's around). The tea & spices can even be made up ahead of time and microwaved by the mug, in a pinch.

Especially nice with a thin slice of clementine on top. Mm. Now I know what I'm doing tomorrow.

My favorite for that is Old Ipswich Golden Marsh, which is distilled locally. Can't remember how many bottles we went through during Snowmageddon! Turns anything - cider, wine, Taza hot chocolate, etc. - into a delicious mulled concoction.
