ND reports on the state of the staff parking lot at the Orchard Gardens K-8 Pilot School in Roxbury this morning:
I hope other schools fared better than we did - this is our staff parking lot at arrival this morning.

WTF was there school today? The BPS has little concern for the health or safety of our students.

We can't wait until it's 50 later this week to get kids back to school. Every snow day means useless wasted days sitting around hot classrooms in June. This is New England. People can (or should learn to) deal with sub-optimal weather and carry on with their lives.

It was not safe. The sidewalks were pure ice, because the ice melt couldn’t keep up. The custodians were trying their best to clear the sidewalks abutting the schools, but the sidewalks leading up to them were not safe. One of my colleagues gave a BPS elementary student her gloves because he didn’t have any and his fingertips were frost bitten by the time he got to school. And before anyone starts criticizing parents this kid has made it to school without frostbite every other day this winter.

Not true
School districts in cities where it snows have a certain number of days factored in for snow days. It’s only required to make these days up when they are exceeded.
Then, when the end of June shows up, nobody except for teachers show up on those days. Believe me, I know.

You don't know. I'm a BPS teacher. Snow days are not built in with our schedules. We make up every single one.
It's a bit more than that
Per the current BPS calendar, the end of the school year is currently scheduled for the 18th of June. However, there is that date after that, June 25, which is noted as "the 185th day required for calendar purposes." I think it is fair to note that the difference between day 180 and day 185 is the "built into our schedules" part. So, no snow days means you are done on the 18th, while one snow day keeps you around until the 19th, and so on and so on, until you get to day 185 and maybe the district asks for a waiver, or they just keep on going to school.

Should have had the parade in Providence
I agree with your sentiment. It was absurd for Boston to host a parade for the Patriots back in 2014 when the roads and rails still weren't functioning.
The team is the NEW ENGLAND Patriots, not the Boston Patriots. I thought Providence should have hosted that parade. Let another part of New England have a chance to bask in the glory.
