A bit of UHub downtime at 2 p.m.

We're getting a new database and that'll require shutting the site down, currently scheduled for 2 p.m. Shouldn't take too long (maybe 15 minutes, he said, optimistically), but plan accordingly - and don't do anything truly newsworthy then, OK?

For the nerds: The host is upgrading from MySQL 5.1 to MySQL 5.6, because they've had enough with supporting increasingly antiquated versions.

Cutover on a Friday afternoon?

Bold move, Cotton, let's see how it pays off.

Does your hosting provider's team hate having weekends without work to do?

No, blame me

They asked me what time. I stupidly said "oh, how about like 2 on Friday?" Because that's the sort of devil-may-care kinda guy I am. So, yeah.

Anyway, it's now after 2:30 and, as far as I can tell, no update has happened, so now to check what's going on ...

Probably fine

I upgraded 5.something to 5.6 (albeit not all in one chunk) on a bunch of servers over the past few years.

They were all painless ones. I'm sure you'll be fine.

Shut down
