And thousands of BPS students yell as one

No school in Boston tomorrow: The mayor has called the whole thing off, after looking at a forecast now calling for up to 10 inches, with a lot of that coming in the morning.

Boston City Hall and all city departments, including libraries and community centers, will be open for normal business hours. The T is also planning regular service.

There were a few days they probably should have called but for some reason this year Walsh/Parielle have been very reluctant to call snow days.

Not on it being the first one, but we really haven’t gotten any major storms so far this season on weekdays. The worst storm this season was that one on the Sunday of MLK Day weekend.

I want to say that we entered March with one or possibly 2 snow days last year, but it became a weekly thing that month. I’m hoping the pattern doesn’t repeat itself.

...Thousands of BPS parent scream crap, another lost day of wages or vacation time. What you going to do? It's winter in Boston again...

I think most of them are screaming crap because they have to spend the day with their kids, not because they lost a day of wages....

Instead of penalizing the school systems at the end of year with extra days during the summer months. The kids should venture out and help shovel out their elderly and disabled neighbors and call it a day of action. The T should allow the homeless to stay in the station instead of throwing them out in the cold.

Dear Colleagues,

Mayor Walsh has declared a Weather Emergency effective, Monday, March 4th due to the adverse weather. As you are aware, Mayor Walsh announced yesterday that Boston Public Schools will be closed today. Also, it should be noted that City Hall will be closed for normal business operations, as well as the Boston Public Library. However, Boston Center for Youth & Families (BCYF) is open. For City of Boston employees, only public safety, emergency management, snow operations personnel and those who support snow operations are required to report to work today.

As stated in the Adverse Weather Policy, this policy only applies to the City of Boston and does not apply to Boston Water & Sewer Commission, Boston Public Health Commission, the Boston Housing Authority, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts government employees, non-profits or private sector entities. Employees working at these organizations must adhere to the policy that is set forth by the aforementioned authorities.

We are asking employees to take safety precautions during this storm and check the HUB and City of Boston website.

Thanks for your anticipated cooperation.
